"Dinner was lovely Emily." Grandpa says to grandma, whilst finishing off his food.

"Mira does make a perfect cassoulet." Grandma says

"Who's Mira?"

"Our cook."

"I thought the cook was Heidi." Mom says to her

"Oh we let her go ages ago. She had a thing with closing things, the door, the refrigerator-"

"The liquor bottle." Grandpa says, interrupting grandma.

"Then it was Trina, then Sophia-"

"I liked Sophia."

"No you did not!" Grandma says confidently

"I didn't?"

"She was the one who sang."

"That's right terrible woman!"

"And after Sophia we had Anton."

Me, Rory and mom just look at each other.

"That's right! Anton was the one I liked." Grandpa says and I get

"I'm sorry, grandpa. How do you get confused with Anton and Sophia?" I say to him

"What do you mean?" He asks looking at me.

"One is a man and one is a woman." Mom says for me.

"Your point being?"

"That one is a man and one is a woman." I say to him

"I have a lot to do I'm a day Lorelai, Tori. I don't have time to keep up with who you mother/grandmother employs." Grandpa says to us both.

"But one is a man, and one is a woman ." Mom says trying to prove our point.

"The dinner was so wonderful Mira." Mom says to the cook.

"It's Sarah."

"Oh, I'm sorry. Mom! Her name is Sarah."

"I though she said Mira."

"Hey, grandma, these plates are really pretty." Rory says whilst examining them.

"Thank you Rory. They were your great-grandmother's." Grandma says to her.

"Lorelai the first."

"I though mom was the first." I say to him

"Not in the name." Grandma says smiling.

"No but in many other things. I was a regular trailblazer. Just finishing your thought mom."

"Lorelai the first was my mother. She was an extremely accomplished equestrian, a distinguished patron of the arts and she was also world famous for her masquerade balls. She was quite a woman." Grandpa says, making me really intrigued.

"Yes she was. Mira cut the cake!" Grandma says clearly annoyed for some reason.

"Yes and why don't you bring Sarah out with you!" Mom says smiling at grandma

Me and Rory look at each other and sigh.

"So Lorelai, how are things at that charming little inn of yours?" Grandma questions mom

"They are still charming and little. We're crossing our fingers it doesn't become rude and large." Mom says sarcastically

"Moms having a huge wedding there this week." Rory says

"Really?"

"Yeah, actually, people are coming from all over the country."

"Well isn't that nice."
