"Umm, grandpas is the hospital. He collapsed." I tell them and see moms face drop.

"Wh-what?" Mom stutters. "We need a cab. I need to call a cab. Where's the phone? Can anybody give me- Tori, can I have the phone." Mom panics

"Calm down." Luke says softly

"No, I can't calm down. I need a cab. What the number? God, it's something 'cabs' or 'cabs' something. 1-800-cabs? Can somebody tell me the damn number of the cab guy!" Mom shouts

"I'll drive you." Luke offers

"There's food and people and there's two burgers with faces." Mom says

"Okay, everybody out! We're closed. Let's go! Foods on me." Luke shouts to the customer. "Put on your coats and get your stuff. Taylor, have your hot chocolate, then lock up. Come on, my trucks out back."

"Luke, I'm-" mom starts

"I know. Let's go." He says and he leads me and mom to his truck.

"Look, we're being passed by senior citizens." I exclaim to Luke as he is driving so slowly!

"I'm going as fast as I can." He explains

"Bye, grandma. Bye." Mom says

"There's ice on the road. Those people aren't being safe."

"At leat they're getting somewhere." Mom points out

"You've checked it five times. I've listened to is twice. It's not changing." Luke tells mom as she has my phone to listen to the voicemail.

"Grandpas in the hospital, you need to come? No details, no info. Who thought her to leave a message like that?" Mom exclaims

"Im sure she was in a hurry."

"A person needs details. Why is he in the hospital? How bad is it? What are the circumstances involving him being in the hospital? These are simple questions." Mom says

"We'll be there very soon and you'll know everything." Luke tells her.

"What if he's dead?"

"He's not dead."

"How do you know?" She asks

"I know!"

"Oh, you are psychic now? you're suddenly getting visions while you drive at 20 miles an hour in the oldest truck known to man? I'm sorry, I mean you're killing yourself to get us there and I'm yelling at you. I don't mean it." Mom explains

"I know." He says sympathetically.

"I feel like this is one of those moments where I should be remembering all the great times I had with my dad, you know, the time he took me shopping for a Barbie or to the circus or fishing, and my mind is completely blank." Mom says and I agree with her, except with grandpa and my own father. He's never here. I can't even remember the last time I saw him.

"We'll, I'm sure it happened." Luke says

"No it didn't. We did none do that. He went to work. He came home. He read the paper. He went to bed. I snuck out the window. Simple. He was a very by the numbers guy, and I was never good with numbers."

"I'm sure he loves you." Luke says to mom.

"You know, my dad is not a bad guy." Mom states

"I'm sure he's not."

"He lived his life the way he thought he was supposed to. He followed the rules taught to him by his non-fishing non-Barbie buying dad. He worked hard. He bought a nice house. He provided for my mom. All he asked in return was for his daughter to wear white dresses and go to cotillion and want the same life he had. What a disappointment I must have been for him to get me." Mom goes on.
