"Oh, my god. Here. With a crunch and a zing and a..." mom begins as she tries a piece of cake. We were sampling wedding cakes even though Sookie was doing moms cake for her. Tristan had both girls. It was the first time he had been left alone with them. They had just turned 2 months. I can't believe it been that long already. "Hmm, hmm, hmm, hello!"

"Okay, our house is burning down, and you can save the cake or us - what do you choose?" I ask mom

"That's not fair. The cake doesn't have legs." Mom jokes

"So, how are we coming here?" Fran asks us

"Oh, Fran, so good. This cake is amazing." Mom responds

"Beyond amazing." Rory adds

"Well, I should hope so. We've been doing this for 112 years." Fran tells us

"Well, you don't look a day over 106." Mom states

"No, I mean my family's been doing it for that long." Fran explains

"R-Right. Okay, well, I'm glad we got that cleared up." Mom stutters as I try another cake.

"The raspberries! The raspberries!" I exclaim as I jumped up and down because I tried the best cake in the world.

"So, when is the big day, again?" Fran questions mom

"Two weeks from tomorrow." Mom replies

"Have you picked a flavor?"

"Oh, I don't know. They're all so good." Mom smiles

"Well, you have to try them again." Fran states

"Ohhh, no, I've already eaten so many." Mom smiles at me and Rory.

"This is a very crucial decision, young lady. Cake is the glue of the wedding, so you will stand here and eat until you decide." Fran exclaims

"Okay, if you insist." Mom says quickly

"I do. After all, what's more important than your wedding day?" Fran asks

"Well, it ain't guy fawkes day." Mom jokes

"Yes... well, I'll just go and see if there's anything else kn the back." Fran tells us and disappears.

"Thanks."

"So how was it seeing max last night? No gory details." Rory says to mom

"Like I've ever shared that part of my relationship with you."

"You've alluded, you've insinuated, you have tiptoed to the brink of impropriety." I point out

"That Chilton has taught you some big words." Mom states

"That's kind of the point." Rory says

"It was really great. I'm glad he's back." Mom goes back ti the original question.

"And he's onboard with the whole smallish wedding thing?" I question

"Oh yeah. We want fun, simple, fast. We have been completely in sync. Without the slightly gay boy band affiliation." Mom replies

"Oh, I've printed up some sample invitations for you. I made them on my computer." Rory states as she gets them out. "All you have to do is pick out a quote for the front page, and I'll print them up."

"Okay. Um... 'What is love? It is the morning and the evening star.' Ugh." Mom reads out a quote but clearly hates it.

"Sinclair Lewis." I tell mom, liking the quotation.

"Sinclair sappy Lewis."

"Fine, next." Rory gets the other quote.

"'And all went merry as a marriage bell. But hush, hark! A deep sound strikes like a raising knell!'" Mom exclaims, reading another quote. "What is it with poetry?"
