"Thats y/n's dad?" Yiren scooted the boy over to look outside the window. She wondered if there was even a slim chance of Yangyang mistaking someone else as his 'uncle' because this man looked nowhere near neat enought to be recognised with his hair covering most of his face.

"It is him, Im sure of it." Yangyang seemed determined as he dashed out of the room, all the way shouting down the hall that he'll be borrowing an umbrella.

Yiren said nothing, the bad feeling lingering in her mind.

Yangyang ran to the house where he saw the man he reffered to as his uncle, stepped in and knocked on the door. There was no response at first but then he heard some shuffling inside.

He knocked again and in his third knock, the door swinged open. Revealing a middle aged man, hair disheveled, clothes ripped and messy, eyes closed in annoyance.

"What is it?" he analyzed the boy's appearance but there was no sign of remembrance. Yangyang on the other side, paid no mind to his uncle's drunk state, instead he greeted him and flashed him a smile, "Uncle, Its me, Yangyang."

y/n's father would've shut the door on his face if it was anyone else but the familliar name had him still on the spot. He forrowed his eyebrows, eyes widen as he realised, "Yangyang...Is it really you?"

The boy beamed at the thought that he was finally acknowledged, "It really nice to see you after a long time." he greeted excitedly.

Even in his hazy state, y/n's father was kind enough to not let him stand in the rain any longer, he pulled the door open and let the boy in.

Yangyang made no hesitation to make himself feel at home. He took seat in the nearby couch and looked around the place. A rotten smell was coming from the kitchen but he didnt think much into it, the place was messy enough.

He noticed his uncle limping and ran over to help, "Let me." he only sat back down after making sure his uncle was comfortable in his seat, fetching him a glass of water on his way.

He was visibly exhausted, one would mistake him as a drunkard but Yangyang thought otherwise. There was no smell of alcohol, he noticed. Making him come to the conclusion that he was only sleep deprived. "How was your trip? It must've been a long journey."

y/n's father tried to recall any recent trip he went to but none came in mind. Surely, Yangyang was stuffed with bunch of lies to stay away from this place and not come around to meet y/n's family, but he eventually ended up infront of them.

"Is aunt and Jacob home? I should say my greetings before I go." y/n's dad said nothing in return. Only his eyes softened from the familliar names as he continued to stare nowhere, "Yeah, It wouldve been nice to have them around..." only half aware of what he was spewing, he continued, "We ended on pretty bad terms, I doubt I'll ever be able to see them again..." the sleep was slowly creeping on him as he slouched back, oblivious of the young boy's reaction.

"Ended...what?" but there was no response, standing him up with only questions left unanswered, but Yangyang was stubborn. He quickly walked up to the half-asleep man and shooked him, "Where are they? "

The man scoffed as if the sound of someone not knowing about their family sounded funny to him, when it was all he dwelled about for the last year. Then the image of his only daughter burned in his eyes, welling up tears as he spoke  subconsciously, "y/n...she had to go through so much because of us. After our divorce she worked all day to meet the debts- she even got hurt on the way...i couldn’t even protect her-"

"Divorce!?" Yangyang eyes widen at the certain term. "It cant be...how is it possible....Uncle, how long has it been going on for?" he shooked the man shoulder in desperation for his answers, "when did it happen?"

"Its been a year now..." the man spewed before falling still on the couch, with Yangyang still blown off his mind from his words. "A year ago..." he repeated and the times he spent with y/n a year before came crashing in his mind.

"How...? She looked nothing like someone who's family fell apart..." all the memories he dashed were all full of smiles and laughs. How could it be that he's been fooled for a year. all the times y/n reassured him that she was fine, even when he noticed her teary and red eyes, he didnt ask twice because he trusted her. He trusted y/n to never lie to him, but the whole time he was trapped into this big betrayal from his best friend.

Now that he thought back, there was always this tension whenever they talked about her family, ending with her changing the topic or reassuring him that she's doing great out here.

"The whole time...she lied to me." but the boy didnt have any more time to sort it out when there was a loud siren going off outside the house, following with loud knocking on the door, "Its the police, open the door Mr. lee."
