Y/n stills, too baffled to hear Xiaojun's offer. Of course, the lad doesn’t mean it in a bad way, he's probably trying to help with his best wish in mind. And it's not like she can go back alone.

In the remaining silence, Xiaojun speaks up, his voice trembling, “I mean…it’s pretty late. It’s too dangerous to go back now. You might end up bumping into them again...and I have a guest room.”

Y/n considers all the possibilities then settles for accepting the offer, It's just one night anyway, then she nods, “I hope I won’t be troubling you.”

Suddenly it’s difficult to say whether Xiaojun is relieved or not. He stares at her for a second, confused if he heard her right, then he's smiling nervously, “Oh no, it's no problem. I’ll show you the room. Just tell me if you need anything.”

Xiaojun is too kind.

He helps her settle down in the guest room, lets her borrow his clothes, lets her take a shower and even offers to have dinner with him.

It's been too long since Y/n felt cared for. She can’t remember the last time her parents took care of her. It was always her, preparing meals and doing the house chores alone.

Now, under Xiaojun's care, she feels guilty. As if she's taking advantage of his kindness. But she shouldn’t feel this way, right? Xiaojun probably does it with his every guest.

When she walks out of the bathroom, all bathed and freshened, a grumble erupts from her stomach. She's about to reach her bag for any leftover snacks when a delicious smell from the kitchen hits her.

'Would you like to have dinner with me? I can cook.'

Right, Xiaojun's cooking.

Walking out from the guest room, she spots the lad in the kitchen, a flower patterned apron tightened on his waist while he hums to a song.

Y/n feels all giddy from seeing the sight of the boy. “What's for dinner?” she asks
excitedly.

"Not much," he replies, not matching her energy.

The whole feeling of home lights up her heart, since her family never bothered to have dinner together ever since they moved in. She helps around the kitchen, putting the plates and spoons in place as the boy continues to cook diligently.

In a few more minutes, the dishes are served and they both take seats across from each other. Y/n hesitates the first bite, given how it looks. But then the food turns out delicious and she can't stop from wanting more, "How often do you cook?" she asks with a mouth full of food.

Xiaojun chuckles at her behaviour, "Twice a week? I usually settle for takeout since I barely get time to cook." Y/n nods as she keeps listening to Xiaojun explaining his mother's dishes he came to learn over the time.

The guy has a thing for cooking, she realises.

Just like someone I used to know.

"You know, Y/n..." Xiaojun suddenly fiddles with his spoon, no longer eating, "A friendly piece of advice here, maybe you should have homemade meals more often, instead of always consuming store foods."

Y/n stills. Of course, he noticed...

She straightens up, suddenly uncomfortable "My parents aren’t home and I can't cook. Store food saves my time and energy, so why not."

Even if the other one notices her avoiding eyes, he says nothing to it, "I can teach you, you know, cooking. Not that I know much about it but I hope I can help."
