Peeta x Reader part 3

You and Peeta spent much more time together now that you both are open about your feelings. He comes over every morning to have breakfast with you, and then you two spend the day with each other.

It didn't matter what it was you two did, walk around or sit a home, you just tried to spend every single moment together as you could.

Sometimes you couldn't see Peeta because he had to do interviews with Panem or ride the trains to other districts. Whenever he wasn't with you he was with Katniss.

You still remember that it's all just for show, their love, but sometimes it seems so real that you almost start to believe that they're star-crossed lovers.

Eventually you and Peeta had to start meeting in secret as Katniss warned that the Capitol were getting suspicious. Peeta would sneak to your house at night or hide you in a room in his house so that you two could spend time together, but those moments started to fade.

Even Katniss had to be careful as she was meeting Gale on the sidelines, but it still hurt whenever Peeta and Katniss had to be 'in love'.

You don't know how long it went for. A couple of months, a year? But every moment that used to feel special with Peeta slowly started feeling like a burden.

Peeta and Katniss had to go on another train ride across all the districts to deliever speeches on the reapers who died in the last Hunger Games.

You watched the projections of their travels and cried at the speech Katniss made for Rue. You didn't know her personally but she was a nice girl. It probably still hurts for Katniss to talk about what happened.

There was a moment when everyone started to do the three-finger salute but then the Peacekeepers ran into the crowd and started attacking the man who started the whistle.

It was scary seeing them grab people and rip them away from others. They brought the man onstage and then you had to turn your head away as soon as you saw a Peacekeeper bring out a gun. You heard the gunshot and then turned to see the projection turned off.

You turned around to look at your mother and she looked as worried and frightened as you looked.

You got up and grabbed your coat before quickly squeezing your mother's arm for comfort and then running outside. You ran over to the victors homes and inside Peeta's where you stayed in the room you usually hid in.

It took almost forever before you heard the front door open and footsteps rushing up the stairs. You opened the door and saw Peeta with messy hair. He always messed up his hair when got nervous.

"Peeta," you breathe, and he turns around.

His face immediately becomes washed with relief and he runs up to you and hugs you.

"(Y/N)... it's not safe for you to be here." He says.

"I don't care. I needed to see you. I know what happened in district 11."

Peeta pulls back from the hug but he looks worried again.

"The Capitol is getting angry at us, at Katniss, because of her rebellion. She says that Snow isn't convinced that we're in love so..."

"So?" You say.

"I'm so sorry, but... (Y/N), Katniss and I have to get married."

You stumbled back slightly and tried to breathe in what he just told you. It was too much information to grasp.

"What?" You said, barely above a whisper.

"I didn't want to either but Snow will have Katniss and I and the whole district killed if we don't convince him. Besides, he knows about Gale and Katniss... how long do you think it'll take before he finds out about you?"
