Cat Noir was perched on the railing outside Marinettes room. She heard a clattering and climbed the ladder, closing the trapdoor behind her.

"Hey Kitty," she greeted, leaning against the railing beside him.

"Hey Mari, how are you?" He replied, he sounded different than usual. Tired, sad, depressed.

"I'm good, how about you?" She asked, trying to to keep her worry hidden.

"Have you ever sat up here and just thought about jumping off?" He sighed, instead of answering.

"What?" She muttered, trying to mask her concern.

"I mean it would be so easy, to just let go, fall over the edge," he elaborated.

"Why don't you come down off that ledge," Marinette frowned.

"I shouldn't be a superhero. Superheroes don't think like this. Ladybug has probably never thought of anything other than saving people," Cat Noir mumbled, reluctantly taking the hand Marinette offered and hopping back within the confines of the railing.

"Everyone has dark moments, I'm sure Ladybug has her own struggles," Marinette sighs.

"I'm sure Ladybug has never thought about throwing herself off a roof after fighting with hee parents," The man chuckles quietly.

"You fought with your dad again?" Marinette asked, concerned, from what the boy had told her, the fights between him and his father were never good.

"Yeah and he um, he got, he got physical this time," Supressed sobs were evident in the hero's voice as he wrung out his hands.

"Physical? He.. he put his hands on you, Kitty?" Marinette sounded angry, determined almost.

"Yeah," Cat Noir stepped into the light finally, turning to face her. A red mark practically glowing on the right side of his face. Marinette gasped.

"Come inside, let me get you an ice pack or something, please," Marinette offered.

"I'm ok, Mari. Thank you though," The hero brushed off.

"Come inside, Kitty, I'm not letting you go home tonight," Marinette repeated, leaving no room for argument.

"B...but ill have to detransform, you can't know who I am, Mari," Cat Noir rubbed the back of his neck.

"I promise I won't tell a soul. You know you can trust me, Kitty," Marinette pleaded with him. She couldn't let him get hurt again.

"Mari... you know the rules, nobody can know who me or Ladybug are," Cat Noir sighed.

"I'll go first," Marinette said without thinking.

"What?" Cat Noir looked at her, confused.

"Tikki, spots on!" She called out, and suddenly he was looking at Ladybug.

"Marinette, you're Ladybug?!" He gasped.

"Yup, your turn now, whose under that mask, Kitty," Ladybug smirked.

"I um.. Plagg, claws in," he said, defeated.

"Adrien?" It was Marinettes turn to gasp. She detransformed, pulling the model into a hug.

"I never realized Mr. Agreste would... I mean I knew he put a lot of pressure on you but I never thought he would lay his hands on you," Marinette said gently.

"Neither did I," he breathed against her shoulder.

"Come on, let's get you patched up, yeah?" Marinette said, leading him down the ladder. She sat him on her chair and ran downstairs.

She came back a few minutes later with a first aid kit, ice pack, and her mother.

"Hello, Adrien, Marinette told me you're a little banged up, can I take a look at it?" Sabine asked. Adrien nodded and she gently touched the side of his face, causing him to wince.

"Is that the only place, Adrien?" Marinette asked, sitting next to him.

"Yeah, it is," he nodded.

"Adrien you can stay with us for a while alright? You can sleep up here on the lounge chair or on the couch downstairs, it up to you. Unfortunately we don't have a guest room," Sabine offered.

"Thank you, Mrs. Dupan-Cheng," Adrien smiled.

"Please, call me Sabine," the mother giggled.

Once she patched him up, she returned downstairs, leaving the two teens upstairs alone. Marinette kissed his cheek and climbed up into her bed. Adrien curled up on the chair with the fluffy blanket Sabine had provided. Both fell asleep instantly, dreaming of each other.
