Love of Her Life (A Love Story Between an OB and a Neurosurgeon)

The Hospital Shooting

It's a cold December morning, Carina and Amelia have already been dating for a good 2 months now. Lexie and Mark broke up again. Lexie was doing a surgery 3 weeks ago and accidentally killed a patient. The patient was a 17 year old male named Casey Houston. The patient's father decided to sue Lexie. They went to court and removed the law suit from Lexie's name. Casey's father, Michael gave them a threatening glare as they walked out of the courthouse. Lexie had miscarried her baby Huxley in November.

That morning, Amelia and Carina had both of their shifts around 7am and worked on the things they needed too. Carina was in the lab working on something. Amelia was walking to her office when she bumped into an intern.

"Crap, I'm so sorry, Peterson" She said to the intern. The intern was Jack Peterson, an intern that would be on a lot of Amelia's from time to time.

Jack casually smiles at her and continues walking.

Amelia gets to her office and starts working on something. She started to fall asleep as her eyes felt heavy. Not even 3 minutes later, there's a gunshot that jolts Amelia awake. She runs out the door to find the intern she just bumped into on the ground dead. Poor Jack, he was such a good guy too.

Carina could hear the gunshot from where she was, so she ran out the door worried as hell about her girlfriend.

She takes a sigh of relief when she sees Amelia okay. "Was it just me or was that a gunshot we heard?" Carina asks.

"No, it was definitely a gunshot. Now, Jack the intern is dead" Amelia says.

"We gotta go report this to Webber, then he could put the hospital on lockdown"

"You're right. Let's go"

Amelia and Carina go to find Webber. When they get to his office they see Webber on the floor bleeding out.

"Oh crap!" Carina says, running over to Webber. "We have to put the hospital on lockdown ourselves"

"Yeah and we need to call someone to take Webber to a different hospital" Amelia says pressing the button for the hospital to go on lockdown. It would be a Code Violet.

They get Richard transferred to Seattle Pres to get his injuries looked at.

It's around 3pm as the doctors are walking around doing things as the lockdown has slightly been lifted.

Amelia is doing charts whilst Lexie and Carina are talking. They're in the lobby.

"You either have to tell Mark you love him or stop having sex with him" Carina says to Lexie.

Lexie has been kind of out of it the last 3 weeks after Michael gave her that threatening look back at the courthouse. Amelia kept confidently telling her that nothing would happen. "W-we are not having sex-we broke up-I promise" Lexie says.

Carina watches Michael being on the stairs, catching her a little off guard and making her zone out a little. "Are you su-" She gets interrupted by a nurse saying something to Michael.

"Sir, you're not allowed up there" A nurse says. The first gunshot is then fired.

Carina falls to her knees protecting Lexie and Amelia's heads rather than her own.

Lexie's breathing heavily after falling to the floor. "O-oh, I-is that they shooter?" She asks Carina.

Carina nods.

"O-oh god" Lexie says terrified.

"We'll have to make a run for it..." Carina tells her.

Amelia had been looking at Carina. The next thing you know, she's on the ground with Carina and Lexie. "T-that's...." She gets up. "That's Michael...."
