CHAPTER 28 | Engineer |

Do you know the feeling of. . . it’s like you’re riding a time machine when something triggered you to go back in a certain page of your life.

For example an ice cream, a rain, cold soup, school bags. . .and so. Something that will bring your childhood back.

Yijin, is like that right now. Seeing him right now brings back a lot of memories from the past. I won't lie, my heart pounded so fast because she crazily recognized this man who once made her go wild like this.

The fast pacing of my heart is crazily familiar.

"Yijin," I whispered. My lips parted and it's like the world stopped for us. Hindi ko alam kung nananaginip ako ngayon o ano, baka pagod lang ako sa biyahe at namamalikmata.

"Chantal!" He stood up and was obviously shocked to see me. All my thoughts were washed away by the rain the moment he showed his warm smile. Agad na napalitan ng tuwa ang mga mata niya.

"Yijin, k-kamusta?"

"Kamusta?" We said in unison. We both laughed, well obviously. . . I made an awkward laugh.

But then excitement filled us because of what happened. He held his arms for a hug and without a single thought, I hugged him.

I hugged him! I freaking hugged him! Agad na kumalabog ang puso ko nang maalala ang huling pag-uusap namin sa ulan.

My eyes widened, embarrassment filled me while I was in his arms, I suddenly felt awkward nang bitiwan niya 'ko.

"I-it's been so long," manghang aniya. Medyo nilakasan niya ang boses dahil malakas ang ulan at hindi kami magkarinigan.

"Kaya nga, eh. . ." Nangangapa kong ani. Yijin looked at my lagguage, tinulongan niya agad akong ayosin 'yon para hindi mabasa.

"Salamat, ikaw? How's life?" Natanong ko dahil hindi ko na alam ano ang sasabihin. He smiled at me, warmly. His smile is so good and comforting that it made me feel comfortable.

Everything is fine Chantal, nothing to be awkward. I reminded myself bago pa ako magka-anxiety attack sa tabi ni Yijin.

"Well, life is fine. Ikaw ba kamusta? It's been so long since we last saw each other, sobra kang na-miss namin noong. . . umalis ka," aniya. Halatang nag-iingat siya sa huling sinabi.

"Well, I'm good. I'm doing great doing my stuff. Ako rin, na-miss ko kayo ng sobra! Si, Rio kamusta?" I asked, sanay kasi ako na kapag nand'yan siya, susulpot ang pinsan niya. Baka nandito rin dahil lagi naman silang magkasama.

"Grabe naman 'to, ako 'yung nandito pero si, Rio ang hinahanap mo," he said jokingly while offering me a sit. My eyes widened at that, agad akong natawa sa kanya at nailing.

"Oh, sorry!" ani ko. He chuckled and sat beside me. "So, nandito ka pala sa Manila? I didn't expect to see you here? What a coincidence!"

"Yeah, a great coincidence," he smirked at me.

"Well, I'm here for work," aniya. Napatango-tango naman ako.

"So, you're working?" I asked,  I'm curious about his life but I stopped myself from asking more.

"Well yes, you?" he asked. Nagkibit naman ako ng balikat.

"I'm still studying," ani ko. Pinasadahan naman niya ang suot kong uniform.

"Hmm, let me guess? Psychology?" he guessed. Natawa ako at tumango.

"Yeah!"

"Wow, it's good to know you pursued your dream course?" Napaawang ang labi ko sa sinabi niya. Medyo nagulat ako sa sinabi niya, nasabi ko ba ’yon sa kanya noon? So, he knows? And he still remembers? I don't know but my heart warms at that.
