CHAPTER 45 | Graduation |

I hugged Yijin after hearing him say that, it feels so good that everything that we want to do is now alligned. No awkward moments, no doubt for him and me, no questions for the both of us. Everything is in a clean air between us.

Kaya naman nang makauwi ako sa condo ko nang gabing iyon ay agad kong tinawagan sina Seri at Chloe. They are so happy to hear na makakauwi ako. Yijin also sent me a message, it’s a screenshot of flight details, he’s asking me kung anong araw ang convinient sa ’kin because he’s booking us a flight to Lusiento!

I choose the day before Cruzel’s wedding, morning naman ang flight kaya I have the time pa na makapagpahinga bago ang kasal ni Cruzel.

“Ikaw lang mag-isa uuwi?” tanong ni Chloe na nagpatigil sa ’kin. I don’t want to lie, I’m going back with Yijin but I don’t want to spoil them yet. Gusto kong personal na makita ang reaction nila. That my long time crush before is now my boyfriend!

“Ah, I’m still not sure about kung sasama si, P-papa.” Nautal pa ’ko pero mukhang hindi naman nila nahalata dahil pareho silang napatango.

“Malapit na ang graduation mo, I would like to come kaso nag-promise ako kay Cruzel na tutulongan ko siya sa wedding preparations niya. We’ll be busy by that time,” ani Chloe.

“Ako rin, gusto ko rin pumunta kaso alam mo na. . . duties,” Seriah said meaningfully.

I nodded at them, “I understand naman and no worries. Hindi naman ako magtatampo sa inyo, saka magkikita rin tayo pagkatapos ng graduation ko.”

“Ay, na-mi-miss na talaga kita Chantal!  Pwede e-time lapse na lang ang panahon?” naiiyak na ani Chloe. Natawa naman ako sa kanya.

“Next month, mabilis na lang ’yon,” I assured her. Pagkatapos kong makipag-videocall sa kanila ay naghilamos muna ako at nagpalit ng pantulog. After doing my night routines, Yijin texted me, he’s done booking.

Ako:

Thank you! Send me your online bank account, I’ll pay for my plane ticket. ❤️

I put a heart emojie so, he would think I’m genuine while saying it. Yijin always wants to pay everything whenever we go out. 

Yijin:

No need for that. It’s on me po.

Ako:

Hey, I think that’s kinda too much? Plane ticket ko naman ’yon pauwi.

Yijin:

Ako naman nagyaya na umuwi tayo so, it’s on me.

Ako:

But I suggested the idea of going home po?

Umupo ako sa ’king kama at naghintay ng reply niya. I’m trying my luck here even though I know it’s final that he’s going to pay for us.

Yijin:

Just this one, please?

Ako:

Okay then, but I’ll be the one buying the tickets when we go back?

Matagal siyang nakapag-reply, sigurado akong hindi niya gusto ang idea.

Yijin:

Okay then. . .

Agad akong napangiti sa reply niya kahit alam kong mukha lang siyang napilitan.

Yijin:

But still, I’ll be the one paying for my plane ticket.

I sighed heavily, ayaw talaga magpatalo. Ayaw magpalibre.

Ako:

Okay then po

Days feels like I own it. Because of Yijin, I felt like I finally able to get my wings and fly because with him I know I’m safe. He’s the first person to know what’s inside me, at first the idea scared me. . . now that I see how he handles it, it feels like nothing could go wrong. He’s handling my heart, sheltered with full of care.

Before the graduation, I formally introduced Yijin to my father. I want my graduation day to be for myself so I introduced Yijin to him before the day of graduation.

Kabado pa ako noong una but Papa assured me that he’s happy to know I’m with Yijin. He somehow knew Yijin, and he’s assured that I will be in good hands with him.

Sunod-sunod ang mga masasayang araw para sa ’kin, and I can’t say more except. . . I deserve it.

Hindi naging madali para sa ’kin lahat, sa mata ng iba I’m just a normal girl who suffered a lost and had the hard time adjusting in her new University. But in my heart, I know it’s not an easy road. I know better myself now so, I know what I deserve. And I really deserve this one.

“Thalia Channel Lastimosa— Caum Laude!” I smiled and bowed my head to everyone. This bow is for every hard days, for the people I’ve been, for the days I want to give up but still manage to rise up, for all the experience. I’m bowing as a sign of tribute and goodbye to them. Thank you, they made me so much greater than I was before.

My father put the medal on me, his eyes are glistening with tears, “I’m so proud of you,” he whispered. I smiled at him, my eyes started to burn, I want to cry but I stopped myself.

“Thank you Pa, I love you. Lahat ng ito, para po ito sa inyo ni Mama.” Niyakap ako ni Papa bago kami tuloyang bumaba sa stage.

After the recessional I immediately saw Yijin at the entrance, he’s holding a bouquet of roses while smiling proudly at me. I couldn't stop myself, I ran to him and immediately hugged him.

“Congratulations,” he whispered while I’m hugging him. He hugged me back and gently tap my back. “I’m proud of you.” Napangiti ako sa sinabi niya. “Here, for the prettiest and bravest girl,” aniya nang binitiwan ko siya, inabot niya sa ’kin ang dalang boquet.

“Thank you,” I said with teary eyes. Yijin looked so perfect on his baby blue dress shirt and pants. His face will never fail you, still the same. . .  the almost perfect guy I’ve known.

Ngumisi siya at lumapit sa ’kin, pinatakan niya ’ko ng halik sa noo bago muling niyakap.

“Gagawin n’yo na naman ba akong third wheel sa dinner natin?” Pareho kaming napailingon ni Yijin kay Papa nang magsalita siya. We both laugh at him.

“Of course not Tito, you don’t deserve that.” Agad na lumipat si Yijin sa side ni Papa kaya napasimangot ako.

“ANO kaya magiging reaction nila?” I ask Yijin pagkaupo pa lang namin sa seat. He fix my sunglasses for me and laugh at me.

“You’re so excited to surprise Seri and Chloe.”

“Magugulat din sina Rio, Klint, at Cruzel! Ano kaya magiging reaction nila?”

“I’m sure they are going to be happy,” aniya. “Sleep for now, sobrang aga mo nagising.” Morning kasi ang flight namin ni Yijin papuntang Lusiento, sa sobrang excited ko ay hindi ako nakatulog. Tuloy sobrang aga ko siya tinawagan na sunduin na ’ko.

“You think so? Hindi kaya sila super magulat? Magtaka?” I overthink things. Kumunot naman ang noo niya.

“Why would they? As far as I know they are very supportive of me and you before? I’m sure they are going to be happy.” Napasimangot ako nang may maalala.

“Supportive sila sa lahat ng nali-link sa ’yo! Our friends loves to tease you to someone. Remember Vion? Inaasar ka rin nila roon!” Napamaang siya sa sinabi ko.

“Vion and I are just friends po.”

“But still, they are teasing you to her,” ani ko.

“Pero ang pinakapaborito nilang asarin sa ’kin ay ikaw. Iyon din naman ang gusto ko. I hate them for teasing me to someone, pero kapag sa ’yo nila ako inaasar natutuwa ako.” Natigilan ako, my rants were shut. Pakiramdam ko biglang uminit ang pisngi ko.

“T-talaga?” I said shyly.

“Sa ‘yo lang po lagi.”
