The gentle twinkling of the bells chime, signaling your daily arrival to your favorite cozy place: the local library known as "Gentle Raindrops". Some nearby bookworms lift their heads from their quiet reading and give a small smile and wave. You return their greetings before heading in further to find a comfortable seat.

A simple window seat will do. Sunlight permeating through the window makes the area nice and toasty, and the slightly opened window allows a fresh breeze to come in. You set down a notebook and pencil and head into your favorite aisle to select some books of interest.

While you come in here during your leisure time, finding solace and warmth between the crisp pages and overall quietness, beautiful blues and white constantly float in your mind—so much so that it's like Sucrose's steady stream of experimental failures and Bennett's never-ending bad luck.

And it just so happens that those colors are now in your view.

Though his back with his long, lovely hair can only be seen, you can envision his serious expression and the way his purple gaze focuses on the task at hand (which, in this case, is putting away books in their respective homes). Your attention is no longer on the potential read you have picked out, solely watching his silent movements move up and down the full shelves.

You've always appreciated the male's elegance and gentleness. The way he picks up a book from the cart beside him, eyes sweeping the shelves before sliding the book into its proper place, is mesmerizing. He'll then leave his fingers against the book's spine for a moment, slowly sliding them down and away to grab another book.

Then he suddenly stops out of the blue, to turn and look at you.

Immediately, you panic in embarrassment and surprise, eyes widened as you move further into the aisle you're at. Not even bothering to look through anything else, you mindlessly grab a couple more books in hopes of them being a decent read, and rush to the front counter.

"I should've just waved or something... hiding away makes me look like a complete creep," you scold yourself under your breath, but your face quickly gets replaced with a dorky smile. You're already internally squealing over how beautiful he looks; plus, in that moment, he had his eyes on you...!

Well, he always has his eyes on you whenever you check out your books at the front desk, but still...!

After calming down, you smack your face a few times for extra measure before speed walking to the checkout counter. Realistically, since he's busy with something right now, Navia, the other library assistant, should be present.

Your hopes get washed down the drain once you take a tentative peek from over the bookshelf.

And to make matters worse, before the golden-haired female walks off with another library task, she spots your hiding figure and calls out to you, her cheerful voice making you pout in defeat.

"(Y/N), it's an honor to see you here! Why are you mulling in the dark?" She puts a hand on her hip, urging you over, which you oblige (much to your disappointment).

As you slowly approach her with timid steps, you're also greeted by the male you've been hoping to avoid. He just finished scanning some books, giving the person a polite farewell, before shifting his attention over to you two.

"Miss Navia, it appears I must remind you of the library rules. Please refrain from speaking loudly." He then gestures to you with an outstretched hand. "I can assist you up here when you are ready."

Navia sighs and nods. "Yes, yes. It's quite impossible to forget this rule in your presence, Neuvillette." She turns to you with a warm smile and mouths a "good luck!" as she knows of your little crush.

Up at the front counter, you set your books and library card down and carefully push them toward him, awkwardly standing there and listening to the quiet beeps. Unknown to you, Neuvillette is observing your reactions closely, hiding his curiosity behind the scanning of the books. His eyes flicker over to your evident nervousness every once in a while, his lips pressed together.

Some typing of the keyboard can be heard, causing you to face him once more, though you're still avoiding his face, resorting to staring at the back of the computer as if it's the most interesting subject in this room.

"(Y/N)..." he trails off, moving the now stacked books and library card closer to you, "...that is your name, correct?"

You blink a few times, eyes widened, and you can't help but exclaim (a little too loudly), "H-How'd you know?!"

He turns the computer over so you can see what he has been looking at: your photo and name displayed clearly. This realization causes you to clear your throat to fill in the silence. You definitely did not think he found you cute and tried to figure out who you were by asking Navia...

Sensing your current state, Neuvillette adjusts his sleeves, resting his laced hands on the counter. Your heart flutters, and as you grip onto the books against your chest, you have a spark of hope that he'll—maybe, hopefully—ask for a date as a way to get to know you more.

But of course, you're let down for the second time today.

"According to the information presented here, you have two books overdue. Are they no longer in your possession and you would like to make a full payment for them, or would you like to extend the holding period, given you are required to pay a small fee?"

Neuvillette is 100% checking you out. By scanning the books, of course.
