How does one describe happiness? To describe trust? Perhaps these two foreign concepts aren't as difficult as he's making it out to be, but to be fair, he never got to experience such warmth in his younger years. Although turning back in time to have a loving childhood is impossible, at the very least, he can learn to trust.

Right...?

A familiar voice calls out to him in excitement, breaking his cloudy thoughts. Wriothesley slowly blinks, focusing on the beaming person in front of him who is currently talking about the dessert that arrived a moment ago. He hums, propping an elbow on the table as he rests his cheek against his knuckles.

"You had this cake yesterday, remember? With the way you're reacting, it's as if you never tasted it before," he says, sipping on the usual tea he always order whenever you two go out.

You shake your head and insist otherwise, "Well, it tastes even better than yesterday!" Cutting into the piece with a fork, you lift a generous amount up to his lips. "Here, try it."

He has to refrain from sighing loudly; after all, getting hand-fed by you isn't anything new since it's something you enjoy doing. Even way before meeting you, Furina has mentioned to him of your actions to be incredibly cute as it matches your overall character: childlike. Hearing of this naturally caught his interest as he can only imagine you to be sweet and... easily able to trust others without much thought.

And his assumptions were correct, because the day Furina introduced him to you, there was no hesitation in your vibrant words and acts. You treated him as if you two were two peas in a pod, and quite frankly, there were instances where he felt you were a bit too touchy and affectionate.

But in the end (unexpectedly), the black-haired male found himself genuinely enjoying your sweet and caring presence—how you view the world and those around you under the brightest light. The way you immediately rush up and greet him with a tight hug whenever you see him; your beaming face getting close to his; the way you tug on his sleeve and drag him over to whatever has caught your bright eyes...

"Wriooo, do I have to pinch your nose again?"

He closes his eyes and smiles helplessly as realization dawns upon his face for a moment. "Seriously... must you always move that cute face of yours so closely to mine?" he murmurs, gaze softening.

"Cute?" you repeat, pointing a finger at yourself. "Me?"

"Take a look around the place. Who else would I be referring to?"

Wriothesley watches you in adoration, amused by the way you're actually looking around the serene café with interest. He picks up the cup to his lips, savoring the warmth of the tea. Just as he expected, your attention is now on a cute decoration that's adorning the wall. Flickering his light blue gaze to the decor, he hums and nods in response to your evident excitement.

While you're explaining just exactly what it is that you like about the piece, quickly moving from one decoration to the next, your friend is listening intently, so much so that he doesn't take note of the way his heart is fluttering.

It seems as the days pass by, from the pouring rain to the bright sunshine, the walls he initially built around himself are gradually crumbling all because of you: someone completely opposite of him, someone who knows how to trust others.

"Heeey, Wrio! You're spacing out again!" you call out, waving a hand in front of his face.

Sitting here, enjoying his break time with the one he adores and... trusts, feels pleasant. Happiness washes over him the more he stares at you and listens to you speak so happily over the simplest things. Even his serious expression can't remain unwavering as he gives you a chuckle and a soft smile.

"Oh... huh? No, please... keep talking. I enjoy listening to you, (Y/N)."

I wonder how sturdy Wriothesley's handcuffs are.
