Itto | Bubbles Are The Cure

Despite your efforts to drown out the obnoxious sounds of the incessant knocking on the front door, you just can't, and it's evidently because the loud knocking is accompanied by some equally loud shouts and singing... ugh, if the Electro Archon can hear your thoughts right now, please send a generous lightning down upon the knocker!

As if on cue, everything outside goes silent.

Although this is exactly what you wanted since the beginning—simply to doze away in the comfort of your home—you can't help but get concerned by the knocker's well-being. And so you slowly poke your head out from under the darkness and drag yourself out of bed, keeping the blanket draped around your head and body.

You shuffle to the front door and take a peek through the peephole, not seeing anybody except for the familiar dancing tree. That's... odd. Perhaps he just gave up on getting you to step out?

Right as you open the door, the tiniest sliver ever, you feel a strong grip on the other side before hearing a thud. You look down to see his foot at the door, his black-painted toenails wriggling in greeting.

"You tricked me...!" You push at the door with all your might, turning around to do the typical push with your back and desperately slide your feet on the floor method, which is futile as you hear him laugh loudly and start to hold onto the side of the door, pushing it toward you gently.

"Hey, hey... relax. You're sick! The last thing we want is for you to get even sicker. I don't want you to reach the level of sicker sickly sickening sicking sick!" he scolds playfully as he pokes his head in and grins. "There you are, my lovebug! I missed ya."

You huff a defeated sigh and move away from the door, reaching down to pick up the heavy blanket that has managed to fall off during your intense battle of shutting the door. "You've been visiting me every day," you point out, draping the cover over you again.

"Yeah, annnd that won't stop me from always missin' your cute face and sweet voice," he says back with ease, fully stepping inside your place as he shuts the door behind him. "Today isn't the usual check up on my sick lovebug day, though. It's a really special day," he announces, putting his hands on his hips.

Special? What could be so special about today? Aside from it being your one week anniversary since being sick, you aren't sure what he's referring to.

As much as you love your Oni boyfriend, he can be... exhausting (to put it politely) to deal with at times. While you greatly appreciate how much he cares about you, his daily visits has involved constant chatter and being affectionate, which you didn't mind for the first few days. But now... you were hoping to get some peace for the seventh day.

Keyword: were.

"What's so special about today?" you mutter, plopping onto the couch. You can already feel the lethargy coming in again...

"Nuh uh! You are not a sleepbug, so up, up you go!" Itto lifts you up by the arms, making you glare at him as he pouts. "Today's Shower Day! Being the most considerate boyfriend ever, I decided to help you shower since you haven't had the energy to," he explains.

"Thanks Itto, but I can shower by myself. In fact, I was going to do it tomorrow," you insist.

"Yeeeah... and you told me literally the same thing on Tuesday and Thursday."

"Friday hasn't even ended yet. I still have time."

"(Y/N), it's 5 PM. I know you've been lying in bed and snoozin' away this whole day, right?"

Well, he isn't wrong. You have definitely been sleeping all day long today ever since forcing yourself to get up to brush your teeth. There were some breaks to drink water and eat a small meal or a snack, but that's about it. Being sick for a while has drained your energy.

Your lack of response makes him "hmph!" as he grins in satisfaction, pulling you along to the bathroom as he gets the hot water ready. He squeezes some soap in the filled bathtub and stirs the water around, the bubbles starting to slowly form. Some cute animal bath toys are added into the concoction as they happily float around.

"Ta da! Bubbly Bubbling Bath has been specially prepared." He stands up and gestures to it before leaving the bathroom, giving you privacy to take off your clothing.

Once you're settled in, sitting in the much needed hot water, you call out to the Oni as he pokes his head in carefully, seeing that your bare back is turned. He sits on his knees and starts off with washing your hair gently, giving you some nice scalp scratches every once in a while as he's whistling a tune to himself.

You have to admit... being cared for like this is a pleasant feeling.

"Almost done, just gotta wash your body. I'll just, y'know, do your arms, shoulders, and back only. Nowhere else," he assures, lathering body wash on your arms before moving on to your shoulders and back. His steady hands work on your shoulders to massage them, getting rid of any prior tension.

You breathe a sigh of relief, closing your eyes for a moment as you focus on the sounds of the water and Itto's quiet humming. The male notices your head falling forward, making him chuckle. Seems like you're getting quite comfortable with Bubbly Bubbling Bath, huh; it's endearing, and honestly, he has an urge to tease you a little by startling you awake.

He shakes his head. "Nah, that would be mean of me. Pretty sure I'd get whacked so hard that I get sent to Mondstadt," he whispers to himself.

Before waking you up so you can finish things with a nice rinse, he runs his soapy hands around your neck and collarbone area. He yelps when he feels your hand suddenly grip onto his wrist, his cinnabar eyes widening.

"I swear I'm not trying to strangle ya!" he blurts out.

"Itto, you said arms, shoulders, and back only."

"I forgot to add neck to my list of places to wash, geez! You didn't have to give me a jumpscare! What if I accidentally choked you?!"

"Then my ghost form will choke you as revenge."

"Wahhh, please don't! This Oni wants to live!"

The first few minutes of a hot bubble bath is super cozy and nice... and then the water just gets all cold and disappointing.
