Prompt - Carlos plans an evening for Tk but it goes wrong the script gets flipped
Things had been crazy lately their schedules never matched up lately he barely saw Tk they were ships passing through the night by the time Tk got in from a 24-hour Carlos had to be up in an hour to get to his shift it killed Carlos every morning when he had to gently move Tk off of him when he looked so peaceful
But today once Carlos got off of work they had a day and a half to spend curled up in the loft tangled in one another's arms enjoying one another's company
Carlos decided that it would be the perfect time to plan a surprise date night in which he would cook their favorite
His alarm went off at 6:00 a.m. as it had for the past few weeks Soft groans escape Tk as he digs his head farther into Carlos's chest Carlos reaches to turn off his alarm when a very sleepy Tk mumbles " Do you have to go ..?" Tk mumbles " one more day baby boy ..I'll make our favorite tonight we can have a little date night in ." Carlos says raking through Tk's very messy bedhead
"You don't have to ." Tk says softly "Please let me do something nice for you I've barely seen that cute face of yours ." Carlos says kissing Tk's head "Go back to sleep, my love ." Carlos says as Tk digs his face into the pillow
Carlos knew how these shifts took a toll on Tk so he did his best to not disturb Tk anymore while he got ready for his shift he made sure to give Tk a quick peck before exiting the bedroom
The shift seemed to drag more than usual All he could think of was getting home to Tk and being able to have a conversation that wasn't rushed over the phone nor interrupted by the alarm going off
He was looking forward to getting to enjoy waking up next to Tk watching as he winced as the sun shined through the windows of the loft
He just missed Tk
He missed his laugh
His messy bedhead
He got ready to leave getting his bag out of his locker when his partner came in "Hey Reyes I know you're trying to get home but we've got paperwork piling up like crazy and the state needs these incident reports by tonight ." She said
"Okay ." Carlos sighed Tk didn't get off for two hours so if he got this done in 45 minutes he would have 30 minutes to get home and he would have to start cooking right away
But incident report after incident report pilled on top of his desk
Carlos - stuck at work but we are still having our date tonight I'm just trying to get off as soon as I can
Tk - we can rain check. I don't mind
Carlos - no I'm almost done love you
But he wasn't even close to done he was slammed with reports and he couldn't see the finish line by the time he got done it was 10:00 pm he was supposed to be off 4 hours ago
He ruined date night
On the drive home, he assured Tk that he was on his way and that he would whip something up for them
But when he walked into the house he saw Tk in the kitchen " dinners ready ." Tk said with a small smile before walking over To Carlos "You - you cooked ?" Carlos smiled " I wanted to surprise you You've been working so hard lately figured it would be nice ." Tk said wrapping his arms around the back of Carlos's neck
"But how- you burnt eggs the other day ." Carlos questioned, "First of all that was bad luck second of all I had lots of help from Paul on FaceTime ." Tk said, "I feel like I ruined the night ." Carlos sighed "No you didn't now get changed and we can watch a movie of your choice."
Later that night towards the end of the movie the weight on Carlos's chest was more dead weight than normal
He peeked over slowly waking Tk up "Are you tired? Or not interested in the movie ?" Carlos said softly as Tk sat up "I'm not even sure I watched enough of it to know what it is about ." Tk said softly rubbing his eyes
"C'mon let's go to bed ." Carlos said turning off the TV "We don't have to I can stay up ."Tk assured Carlos "No you tired and I wanna cuddle with you ." Carlos says
Once they were in bed Tk was wrapped in Carlos's arms "Thank you for making me dinner baby ." Carlos said, "You've been working hard you deserve it ." Tk said, "So have you I know how much you have the overnight shifts ." Carlos said but Tk was already in dreamland
