When i find myself at home

Prompt - Tk freezes on the job

Not once has Tk ever froze on the job - with their jobs they saw a lot of graphic and morbid shit he's seen people with the flesh peaking off their bones and managed to remain calm and composed

But for some reason when they pulled up to a car crash multiple fatalities "Please help my mom!" The little boy said coming and tugging on Tk's jacket

Tommy had discharged them to all red tags
"Okay, do you know where she is ?" Tk asked softly taking the little boy's hand " Over here.." the little boy said

He walked over and saw a middle-aged woman on the ground blood surrounding her  Tk knelt to get a pulse it was there but weak

He looked up at the little boy who was frozen he was so scared of  losing his mom Tk just stopped it was like he was frozen

The little boy's cries became more evident but Tk couldn't move

"T ." Nancy said rushing over "You okay ?" Nancy said Tk looked up at her Tk snapped out of his zone and looked around him the little boy crying his mom was still on the ground

Tk just nodded

When they got back to the station Tommy came up behind him "Hey Bud you should go home rest up ." Tommy said, " I'm fine really ." Tk said biting his lip " Go be with your boy." Tommy said

Tk did as he was told his dad gave him a ride home

"Thanks, Dad." Tk said softly as they pulled up to the front of the house Owen pulled him close " I love you, kid ." Owen said softly "Love you to dad ." Tk said sulking in his dad's embrace

He slid his key in turning it before the door opened

When he opened the door he saw Carlos coming from the kitchen "Hey are you okay?" Carlos asked if he knew if tk was home early I wasn't for a good reason something had to happen where he had to be sent home because he knew Tk wouldn't admit that he needed to leave  " I think so ." Tk said he saw that Carlos was scanning over him "Come here ." Carlos said pulling him in for a hug he dug his head into the crook of Carlos's neck that was his home .. Carlos was his home he would never be scared of home home was where he was safe no matter what happened out there - out in the field - he would never be scared of home - home was Carlos

"what do you need ?" Carlos asked pulling out of the hug but tk was speechless "Okay why don't we just go lay down for a bit .. maybe ease your mind for a bit .." Carlos said leading tk to the stairs

they lay curled up together nobody said anything for a while Carlos ran his family fingers through his hair until tk sat up in bed crisscrossing his legs "I froze in the field and it almost cost a little boy him mom -. -" Tk confessed looking at Carlos "your human you're allowed to freeze and get overwhelmed - or just simply need a break ." Carlos said rubbing his thigh "No - no im not I almost cost a little boy his mom if Nancy hadn't stepped that woman would have been dead and it would have been my fault ."

"You acting as if you want me to get mad at you ." Carlos said as tk paced around their bedroom "Everyone keeps acting like it's just fine - it's not i should be suspended or something i almost killed someone today and it was my fault because I got in my head ." tk said, "You wanna know why you froze today ?" Carlos said as he used a sterner tone

"Because you push yourself too hard and your brain does not have enough time to catch up - baby you need to take breaks when you don't your body takes one for you," Carlos says
tk finally looked up revealing his glassy eyes to his husband "It's not your fault baby .. you just need to slow down ."                                
Carlos said softly pulling tk in for a hug

"I'll tell you what'll go finish dinner you can come or you could stay in bed and I can bring dinner up ." Carlos said looking up at tk "im not hungry ." TK mumbled Carlos knew that was coming tk never ate when he was upset it was his way of controlling things it was an unhealthy coping mechanism but it was Tk's way Carlos could at least try to make things better

"Okay well I'll go cook .. and maybe you will be hungry when dinner is done," Carlos said kissing Tk's head

Dinner time came and went Tk did not have a bite of food in his system

" you know you're too hard On yourself." Carlos says  Tk looks up softly and gives Carlos a small smile "You and my dad have been talking about me too much ." Tk huffed

" no, it's true you are by far the best paramedic not to mention the sexiest ." Carlos laughed

"You got the sexy part confused with someone else," Tk commented playing with the ring on Carlos's finger
" oh really because I hard to tell that poor drunk girl in the bar the other day that her eye candy was my husband and my eye candy ." Carlos teased

" shut the fuck up ." Tk laughed

" I believe you meant to be a paramedic but if you ever think it's not right I'll support you one hundred percent."
