"You've been real fidgety tonight. What are you rushing to get to?" Don asked, setting some financial statements from the fiscal year on my desk.

Well, Christian's desk.

One should've seen this coming, but Christian forgot to mention to Alex how much more often I'd be flying in with this partnership. I told that idiot- Christian of course, not Alex, that he was going to need to set me up with a workstation somewhere. Anywhere, hell I didn't mind a janitors closet as long as there was a double monitor set up, and a decent amount of outlets.

And yet of course that somehow slipped his mind. As did so, so much. I tried giving him a call but knew before I even dialed his number, that he sure as hell wasn't picking up. Luckily, Alex saw the missed call on his phone and snuck away to call me back. It was good to see at least one of them still kept tabs on this partnership while they were out.

First Alex recommended I temporarily use his office, but after looking at the literal packed desk filled with papers and folders, I asked for Christian's office instead.

Alex was hesitant at first, but he was in a hurry before Christian caught him, and I ensured the poor guy that I could handle Christian's wrath if he felt some type of way about it. I had to remind Alex that before he and Christian shared a bed, me and this dickhead slept top and tail while passed out from alcohol for the majority of our college days.

Christian would live.

Once Don heard about the whole workstation situation, he insisted he take a red-eye here Thursday night to be at the office Friday morning and get me situated, then he was due on another flight back to NYC this Friday evening.

I wasn't thrilled about the idea, but after how our check in went before the call with Dickens and Rogers, Don felt like an in person regroup would be better before Christian returned the following Monday.

I wanted to think he was keeping an eye on me, and he probably was, but also any mistake by Christian got Don all ruffled, and the office space debacle was probably his tipping point.

"I'm getting dinner with Derek later."

I could've lied, but there was no point. Don pretty much knew my entire schedule anyways, and he did my credit card reconciliation. This man knew more about my spending habits than I did, so dinner for two at Giulia was absolutely going to raise his suspicions.

"Oh?" Don asked, cocking an eyebrow in my direction.

"It's not like that," I clarified immediately. "He did a great job of watching Herold for a few days while I was out, and I wanted to do something to say thank you."
