Present Day

Just take a deep breath, John.

It's fine.

Don's on it.

My arms slowly relaxed themselves at my sides, and I leant against the wall wedged right at the other end of the bars.

Derek was only a couple feet away, following the directions I gave him. Stay silent, and stay near me. It was only going to get worse if either of us said a word, so I watched on quietly as he stood there lightly tapping his foot.

I wanted to get him out of those fucking clothes. And not like sexually- well that too, but he must've felt uncomfortable with all the wine still drenched into the fabric. I couldn't believe Pierre-

I felt my bruised knuckles tighten when my fingers curled in on themselves. I barely even recalled what the last few hours were, all I remembered was going back to get Derek from that study, then finding him and Pierre rolling around on the floor fighting.

By the time I got Pierre off Derek, I'd already semi accidentally landed a blow to the side of Pierre's face. I think that sobered him up a bit because everything in this room reeked of alcohol including him, and he wasn't the one drenched in it.

The thing that landed us in a precinct holding cell would be the homeowners security that swarmed into the study soon after me.

Apparently they thought we were all drunken idiots because Pierre here couldn't handle his liquor.

It doesn't matter anymore, I thought to myself now. We just needed to tough this out for a few more hours, which meant I needed everyone to not talk for that duration. Well I needed Derek not to talk. I needed Pierre to shut the fuck up. I'm not sure what vile shit he said to Derek to get us here, but shutting up was absolutely the best solution to get us out.

The issue was, Derek was fidgety as all hell.

I could tell he didn't like being locked in like this. I'm sure the suit was uncomfortable, and we'd been here for three fucking hours.

I had to wake Don up for this shit because the only way we could get out right now was if we covered all damages to the original owners and made bail. Don assured there won't be any charges after. The issue was, the fucking statue Derek and Pierre broke during that tussle was in the higher range of six figures.
