| RED'S POV |

The silence during the ride was almost deafening, with only the wind whispering in my eyes. It felt like an invisible companion, trying to fill the void of conversation. I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease as we traveled down the unfamiliar hidden road, luckily Nicholas explained that it was a shortcut to the human realm, a place shrouded in mystery and known to only a few.

It would have been much better if Uncle J had known about this place beforehand than almost becoming dinner to those wolves.

Lycans. I mean

I think I should try to start a conversation before I die of boredom.

" So..." I trailed off, feeling a mix of nerves and excitement. My eyes looked into those captivating blue eyes. " This date huh," I blurted out, instantly regretting my choice of words.

Oh no, what did I just say? The ground should swallow me right this minute.

This is so embarrassing.

But then, to my surprise, he chuckled, his laughter was like music to my ears, easing my embarrassment. There was something about it that felt familiar, but I couldn't quite place it. Maybe it was a sign that this date wasn't as awkward as I had feared.

" I guess it's like a date, I mean hanging out and keeping you safe in the human realm is pretty much a date right? He explained, his gaze fixed on the empty road ahead.

" Oh?" I responded, my voice tinged with disappointment, it became clear that his intentions were purely protective, not romantic. I quickly turned my gaze towards the window praying that he didn't notice the shattered hope within me.

" Red, he's your guardian and that's it," I reminded myself silently, trying to push away any lingering hopeful thoughts. As we drove in silence once again, I repeated those words in my head like a mantra, trying to accept the reality of our relationship.

" And Here's our stop," He announced, bringing me back to reality. I blinked, my eyes adjusting to the sunlight that greeted us in the human world.

" Where are we?" I asked softly, my gaze fixed on the massive building in front of us. It resembled the supermarkets Aunt May and I used to visit for grocery shopping. I looked up and saw the bright logo illuminating the surroundings with its light symbols.

BIG MARIOS

The name sounded weird but funny at the same time.

" It's a shopping mall but it's a pretty cool place where we could grab a bite... that's if you're hungry." He suggested, with a hint of hesitance and eagerness in his eyes. " Or we could go somewhere more classy, like a private diner I know a place it's just around the corner," He added quickly, not giving me a chance to respond. I couldn't help but hold back a laugh.

" He's so adorable," I thought to myself and suddenly realized that even though he said that this was a protective outing, I could still visualize it romantically.

" It's okay," I said with a smile, feeling a blush creeping onto my cheeks. He seemed relieved, letting out a soft sigh before stepping out of the car. As he walked to my door side, the sunlight highlighted his handsome features. He opened the door for me and then did a playful bow making me giggle.

As I stepped out of the car, my nerves kicked in like a sudden storm. The thought of the bustling mall and my claustrophobia seemed like a recipe for disaster.

I gave a huge sign and mustered a little courage, " let's go then" I insisted and walked past him.

'Red, you can do this'
