Real-Life Confession

I like talking about myself in the third person. It's liberating. Looking back over what happened last year, honestly it's like reading about someone that doesn't exist anymore. Can I really change that much in just a year? I guess anyone can change in a moment, one breath, a blink—even a word can alter a life.

Programs

Yay! That part of the RA job that people assume no students actually care about. Well, last year we had pretty dedicated residents show up for programs, probably because they were freshmen. They didn't know any better.

One thing I've learned about college is that we come in looking for relationships first. School is second. What is college without the people? Just work you'll soon forget after graduation. It's the relationships that last once we leave the scene. And freshmen, the socially timid ones especially, use programs to meet potential friends. I didn't learn that till this year. I have upperclassmen. They have friends and rarely attend my programs. I'm convinced my floor is having this conversation.

They only show up to my programs if there's food.
