"Vera Bear!" Pansy called, gasping as she hugged the girl tight. "You're so tan!"

Vera laughed. With her new unrestricted magic and Apparition, she had spent the small remainder of her summer by the shore, often with Theo and occasionally her father whenever he had time off of work. "Maybe. I think it's just the white making it pop." She was wearing one of Theo's white graphic tees and a pair of blue flare jeans.

Pansy pulled her out by the shoulders to take another look. "Nope, you are definitely extra tan."

Vera shrugged, smiling. "The beach plus Italy, I guess." The girls boarded their usual compartment on the train. Vera allowed Pansy to lead the way to where Draco and Blaise were already seated.

As she looked outside of the window, Vera was able to see Harry Potter shove an Auror to the side, glaring at him. She recalled how she helped them last year with Umbridge and she shivered. "Always in trouble, Potter is." Vera remarked, tying her hair into a ponytail.

"He deserves it. He put Mr. Malfoy in Azkaban, and ruined our friend's lives." Pansy fumed, grabbing her best friend's hand as they navigated past the crowd.

"Well..." Vera trailed off, watching Potter stand alone as Granger and Weasley left him there.

"You disagree?" Pansy asked, intentionally casual. Vera could see her expression forming though.

Vera sighed. "I think that Mr. Malfoy and everyone else knew what they were getting into. However, it's terrible what happened to our friends. They didn't do anything. Potter is always going to do what he thinks is right, even if it hurts everyone else."

Pansy fell silent as she processed. "I suppose. Still hate him, though."

"Mhm." She agreed instantly, not wanting to argue, her mind elsewhere. "Look, I see the boys."

Spotting the girls approaching, the teens squished into their usual compartment got up to greet them. Theo hugged Vera, kissing her cheek. "Hi beautiful." He greeted quietly.

"Hello Teddy." She grinned playfully. "Did you get taller?"

"You mean from last weekend?" He asked, laughing as the girl stood on her tiptoes to try and reach him.

"Yes," Vera squeezed his arm gently. "I swear that you've grown exactly one inch since then."

Blaise chimed in with a smirk etched on his face. "Must be all those late night study sessions." He imitated blowing smoke into the air, throwing his head back with a laugh. "Really stretching that brain of yours." He mimicked taking another drag of the nonexistent blunt or cigarette for good measure.

Theo rolled his eyes, but his smile stayed. "Don't listen to him." His strong arms enveloped his girlfriend. "I've just almost quit." He said into her ear, dragging the words out. '

She looked up at him, narrowing her eyes teasingly. "Just almost, you say?"

Theo didn't answer, laughing at her expression instead. They took a seat in the compartment, which was already filled with laughter as they prepared themselves to embark on another year at Hogwarts.
