*I'm skipping the audition scene because that's just fluff so...*

"Hey, so how was your audition?" Vic asked through the screen of my phone. We were face timing at the moment because we hadn't had time to have an actual conversation. It was barely nine over here in San Diego, but I'm sure it was getting late in Mexico City.

"Really good actually!" I said, failing to hide my excitement. "I hope I didn't imagine it but it seemed like they really enjoyed it."

"They probably did, I mean, how could they not?" He said as if it were the obvious. "By the way, my dad is here with me. Say hi dad!"

"Hello, Kellin!" Vic's father said through the screen when Vic moved the phone.

"Hi, Mr. Fuentes." I said with a small wave and smile.

"We're just on our way back to our hotel from dinner."

"Oh really? How was it?" I asked.

"To be honest," he said before getting closer to the camera and whispering, "it kind of sucked. So since I'm still hungry, I'll probably sneak out later and find a food truck to get some tacos or burritos."

"I heard that Victor!" Vic's dad said beside him. Well, Vic wasn't being so discreet.

"What's wrong with sneaking out to get some tacos?" Vic said defensively.

"You'll get shot or killed." I said, Mr. Fuentes agreeing with me.

"I will not." He said, rolling his brown eyes.

As I talked to Vic, I couldn't help but feel something at the pit of my stomach. I wanted to tell him my true feelings for him but I knew I couldn't right now. He doesn't even feel the same way. Maybe I should just wait a little more.

"So when are you supposed to get a call back?" Vic asked.

"This weekend actually, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed." I said and showed Vic both of my crossed fingers. He did the same and I laughed.

"Yeah, but don't sweat it. I know you'll-"

Vic didn't get to finish his sentence because the call ended. One of us had probably gotten bad connection or something. I moved around and tried to call him again but he didn't answer.

After a few times of trying to face time him, I just sent him a text.

To: Vic

Bad connection or something?

I waited a few seconds and then a few minutes for a reply, but it never came. His phone probably died.

To: Vic

Your phone is probably dead so I'll just say goodnight like this...goodnight Vic. I hope you sleep well <3

It was so hard to not put 'I love you' at the end of the text but I knew I couldn't.

Since it was still a little early, I showered and got inside some comfortable pajamas. Once I was done with that, I finished up some work from class and then after thinking that it should be time to end the day, I went to bed.

-

I was awakened abruptly by the sound of my cellphone ringing. With a groan, I sleepily checked the clock on my wall. It read five a.m. Who the hell would be calling at this time?

Lazily I reached to where my phone was charging. After a few slams of my hand on my nightstand, I reached my phone. Without checking caller ID, I answered.
