~Rapunzel~
As soon as I heard Flynn tapping on my balcony window, I shot out of bed. I wasn't sleeping, I couldn't sleep actually, so I was rotting away on TikTok, watching countless braiding videos and sending them to Astrid. I would have sent them to my cousins, but I didn't want to risk them coming in here and asking why I'm still awake. Actually, let me rephrase. I didn't want to risk Anna coming in here and asking why I'm still awake. She's ever so curious.
"Finally," I say as I open the balcony door for him. "I thought you'd never get here."
"It's literally 12 am on the dot," he pulls out his phone to show the time, but my focus was on his wallpaper. It was a picture of the two of us I had taken, during the night I kissed him back in December at the Snuggly Duckling.
Kissing him during the kiss-cam was one thing, but kissing him during a karaoke session that my parents were watching is a whole other level. I can't believe I did that. Looking back on it, I cringe because why would I do that?! Father was furious, but mother was delighted. I can't deny that I was delighted too. That moment, it felt like it was just him and I in the room, so that's definitely the reason why I kissed him in front of my parents. If they weren't there, it wouldn't have been a big deal because I had kissed Flynn before in front of our friends. But my parents?!
Fourteen, fifteen, and sixteen year old me never would have had the balls, and yet somehow, seventeen, almost eighteen year old me is getting ballsier and ballsier. Maybe it's an age thing. At fourteen I was learning the social customs of public high school life. Fifteen I was learning the things that best suited me. Sixteen was trying to pick and choose. And seventeen, I have been learning to go with the flow, and just do what makes me happy. To not stress. I mean, being homeschooled all your life and then thrust into the beginning of high school can be overwhelming.
Because suddenly you have more freedom, but with that freedom comes certain circumstances. If that makes sense.
"I technically got here at 11:57, but I had to climb up those really impressive vines. So, by the law of Time, I got here three minutes early." He defends himself, grinning. "Now what is it that was so important it had to be said in person?"
I didn't bother telling him gently. It all came out in a panicked rush. "Back when Elsa was at the hospital, she received some flowers with a strange note written on them. Jack and I were the only ones that saw this note and were aware of it. Elsa didn't say anything to the police or my parents because so much was going on. I mean, she literally got assaulted and had finally told her sister that stupid six year secret that has kept them apart. Jack and I also didn't say anything because it wasn't our information to tell. Well, Elsa and I both ended up forgetting about it, probably Jack too, because life continued on, ya know? But then flash forward to the Christmas Eve party, and Elsa receives another set of flowers and another note attached to them with the same handwriting.
She had taken a picture of the first note, and also took a picture of the new note, but didn't get around to comparing them until a few days ago. Because again, she forgot. It was the holiday and she just wanted to enjoy it with her loved ones, but then Jack's accident also happened and her parents died all at once, so again, she had a lot going on. Well, I guess the night we were all over there to cheer Jamie up, she and Jack had talked when everyone was sleeping. She ends up remembering about the notes, tells Astrid about it, Astrid takes it to her aunt, who probably took it to Stoic, and then Astrid's aunt was here today after school to ask Elsa questions about it.
And the reason why these notes are important is because Note #1 was anonymous, but what was written implied that the writer was the person who attacked Hans when Hans was attacking Elsa; her rescuer. Only he didn't have good intentions at all. The first note was so creepy, Flynn. So so so so creepy. I haven't seen the second note, but Elsa said that it was identical handwriting, and that this time it wasn't anonymous. Because the writer of the second note gave the flowers to Elsa in person at the Christmas Eve Party. So she has a suspect in mind, but won't tell us who it is. She says it's a big accusation, one that might ruin his life, so she's keeping his identity a secret from us, and the thing about Elsa is that she is wickedly good at keeping secrets.
