Chapter Thirty-Three- Awkward Friends and Gold Packages

Squeals filled the room as we entered the penthouse. We were totally awed by the modern and chic interior of the place. There was a splash of color everywhere but it was far from overrated. Decorative pieces were experimental but looked elegant in its own way. I sensed a homey vibe while Lisa toured us around. I guessed it was a good sign I made a right decision.

"Damn this crib is nice. Can I live with you, girls?" Matt joked.

"First of all, nobody really uses the 'crib' anymore. Second, um, sure. You wanna be our houseboy?" Kyla smirked at him.

"Or our butler."

"You girls are mean!"

"Aww." Kyla pouted before raising her brows. "Oh yes we are." Both Kyla and Lisa folded their arms on the chests.

"Madi, why are you friends with these people?"

"Same reason I'm friends with you." I answered quickly.

"Whoa! You are becoming one of them. Is that what a broken heart did to you?"

The room fell silent and smiles vanished. Suddenly all eyes were either on me or at Matt. Awkward looks on me and scowls for him.

"Fuck. I'm sorry, Madi. I didn't m-."

"It's fine, Matt." I assured him. "Cut it out, guys. Stop looking at me like I'm gonna breakdown with any word related to love being mentioned. I'm, not. I'm stronger that. Okay?"

"So basically that's it." Lisa interrupted to change subject. She stepped forward elbowing Matt in the process. He groaned quietly on the side. "You bitches are old enough to explore on your own. I'll give your own set of keys later. Our suites are upstairs. I already called it to the masters. Y'all can pick any room you like. Decorate it as you wish. No house rules and no curfew. We'll just have a fucking good time living together."

Oh I hope so.

I spent the afternoon unpacking. Since I was supposed to be fragile and I have the most sensitive friends in the world, they let me pick a room first. I chose the room next to Lisa's. It was an all-white bedroom with a queen-sized bed. It was the second biggest room according to Lisa. I didn't care about that. I chose the room because of the window seat. I had the perfect view of the city. I already imagined myself sitting by the window and reading a book.

The guys left after dinner. Rico's lecture for me to 'let it out' was still in my head. I guessed he was right at some point. As for his suggestion, he wanted me to rejoin the band for good. Now that I have scratched Rent out of my list, the money I'd earn from singing should be enough for my tuition and allowance. I told him I'd think about it. I don't want to make anymore big decisions. Moving houses was enough for now.

The landlady called and asked me to come back to the house. Apparently, there was some package in my name that arrived not long aftet we left. I decided to go to the boarding house before my shift at Harlow.

I took a bus back and pondered what package could that be. I had a few hunch but immediately dismissed the thought.

When I got there, the landlady handed me a medium-sized box in white and gold wrapper.

An early Christmas gift? I asked myself. Then, I spotted a familiar lettering at the bottom part. Immediately, I knew who sent it.

For a few minutes, I stared at the Lumiere print on the box. What the hell am I supposed to do with this? I was positive it was from him. There was no way I was opening it.
