Chapter Thirty-Seven- Smooth Moves and Lost Phones

I was getting used to walking through the posh hallways of MIU Academy. The school wasn't bad at all. Almost all the students were rich and smart but polite in many ways. I think Sam, the council president should be commended for such a peaceful school. She may have no mouth filter like Lisa and Kyla but at least she was effective at being a leader.

During my first week at the school, everybody was wearing their preppy uniforms. When Monday came, gone were the matching skirts, ties and vests. I asked Sam about it and she gave me a smug expression.

"I became a legend."

At first I didn't get it but Mr. Rivera congratulated her in class. Apparently, she was able to persuade the school administration to remove their uniform policy. Now everyone can wear whatever they want as long as its decent.

"Everyday is a fashion show and the world is your runway. Coco Chanel said it herself." she reasoned.

In my opinion, these students just want an excuse so they can go to school in their designer clothes and bags. As if wearing a semester's tuition fee worth shoes wasn't enough.

Mr Rivera, on the other hand was the best CT one could have. He gave me many pointers on how to accomplish my observation sheets. He made sure his lessons were according to what I was observing for the day. Not only he was helpful but generous too. He marked my sheets with high scores and his comments were relevant and useful. I was aware of the things I needed to improve on with my grammar and the content and structure of my observations.

His students were weirdly naughty today. They were suggestively teasing Mr. Rivera and I. It was lunchtime when we're discussing my paper and Sam and her group entered the class. They were giggling and whispering to each other.

"You guys look cute together." Sam winked at us.

Mr. Rivera was blushing when I looked at him. He immediately turned away from me. Suddenly he was acting weird. He glared at Sam but she simply muttered at 'Oops' to herself.

"So, um. I was thinking," Mr. Rivera spoke softly. "Would you like to have coffee with me this weekend?"

"Why?"

"Just to give you more tips for your observation without disturbances." he emphasized the last word purposely for his students. Sam snickered on her seat.

"I'm only free in the morning. I have band rehearsals in the afternoon."

Okay, Madi. Too much details.

"You're in a band? Sing or play?"

"Sing."

We talked about the band. That was the start of how I ended up inviting him to see us play this Saturday before I realized we were doing Rico's mellow list. I took a rain check on the coffee then Sam came to his desk talking about smooth moves. She was one weird kid or was I that slow because Mr. Rivera seemed to get the joke or whatever that was about.

Mr. Rivera's class got more interesting as the day went by. He got called to the office so I was watching over the class. There was this student Seth who was almost out of the door but I stopped him. He didn't ask for permission so I blocked his way.

"Where are you going?"

"None of your business." he answered rudely.

"Seth!" Sam scowled at her twin brother. Yes, they were fraternal twins. When I first saw them together, I knew they were twins. I just confirmed it while I checked their files. Same dark eyes, thick brows, brown hair and 6 ft height.
