Forty-One | The Bodyguard

"You want me to be your personal bodyguard?" Klaus asked, confusion completely washing over his face as I stood before him.

I nodded, "Just until I can control it. I haven't had blood for days, I'm starving and if I get one taste of human blood right now, I guarantee I'll rip this town apart."

"Does that mean you want to be with me every second of every day?" He slightly smirked.

"Trust me, I don't like the idea. Mainly because Kol and I -- "

He held his hands up, "Okay, love. I don't need details. I won't have you chained to my wrist but I'll look over you, get some of my hybrids scattered around aswell."

"Great." I said sarcastically, "I need to go to the Miss Mystic Falls thing for Caroline, so there's gonna be a lot of humans, will you come with me?"

Klaus stared at me for a moment in thought, "Please." I begged.

"All right." Klaus replied, "Maybe I could ask Caroline to be my date."

I began to walk past him, patting his shoulder as I spoke, "Yeah, good luck with that."

I was standing at a table in the Lockwood mansion garden. Everyone was wearing beautiful dresses or suits for the pagaent. I rearranged some flowers that were in the centre of the table as I looked up to see Klaus watching me from afar and another hybrid to the left of me.

My phone started ringing on the table. I picked it up and answered it, "Kol, hey."

"Sorry about walking away last night, I, uh..." He stopped, not finishing the sentence.

"No, it's all right. I had to go anyway. Look, I'm at this pagaent thing -- "

Kol interupted, "What? You can't be around all those humans, Cassie."

"I have to learn to control it sometime. Everyone I know is here, I'll be fine. Look, I have to be here all day 'cause I'm a Founding member but tonight, I just wanna be with you." I replied.

"Sounds great." I could literally hear him smile.

"No distractions at all, I promise." I said.

"Are you sure that's possible in a town full of problems?" Kol asked.

"I'll make it possible." I replied.

"I like a girl who's determined." He said.

I chuckled, "I'll see you tonight."

"No distractions." Kol replied.

I smiled and ended the call. I placed the phone in my small bag as I spotted Caroline storming around the grounds with her clipboard in hand, which was probably full of lists.

She walked over to the orchestra, "Will you guys pick up the tempo? This is a pageant, not a funeral."

I chuckled before I stopped myself when a busboy walked to the table I was standing at. He collected some empty glasses.
