- 6 Months Later -
Avery was staying back on Krypton for her dad's birthday.
She had just finished picking the flowers for the table setting, when she remembered her mom didn't make a remark about knowing about Joker.
Avery pursed her lips thinking about that.
She walked inside to see John with his arms at his sides and her mom's arms folded giving John a hard stare.
"Avery, what's this about you and the Joker in love?" She asked turning to me
"Uhhh," I stretched before a lightbulb went off over my head
"Mama, I'm in love with a criminal," she stated
"The Joker, Jonathan and I are together," she finally said looking at her mom
"Oh my god," mom gasped
"Sure he's a killer for fun, but mom, give him a chance, it's all gonna be alright, he's the sweetest guy I've ever met and he makes me so happy," Avery explained happily
Nikki grabbed her chest and started panting
"I forbid it! You will break up with Joker right now, and you will be with Randal," she demanded
Avery never stood up to her mom before and she wasn't about to start so she simply nodded her head and ran upstairs, warm tears creating trails of sorrow on her cheeks
"Nicole!" She heard her dad began
But the sound of her bedroom door slamming closed behind her and her desperate sobs interrupted her thoughts.
She took off the chain that Jon had gifted her and stared at it
She clutched it to her chest and took her phone off of the night stand
Avery: I'm sorry, I can't do this anymore, I love you to the moon and back🙈🙉💔💔
She sighed before her phone screen lit up
My Joker💘💏 CALLING
She felt the dull ache in the bottom of her heart worsen as she denied the call and switched off her phone, crying herself to sleep
About 2am, she heard her door open. She closed her eyes quickly as a heavy weight tipped her side of the bed
And then, a hand softly ran through her hair
"I'm so sorry baby," the deep, smooth voice of her father said, before a small kiss found her forehead and the door closed behind him again
She continued crying after that little tirade.
