Dustin smiled as he ran over to Emma as she walked into the school. He hook his arm around her neck and she jolted at the contact but he held her close as they walked. "Hey Dustin." Everyone knew they were friends. They were the youngest, weirdest friends in the school. They only had each other but ever since they found each other, they've never seen Dustin smile to much.
"Hey Emma," he unhooked his arm, dug through his side saddle backpack then handed her an envelope. Emma lifted a brow as she opened it as they rounded the corner, walked into the classroom then sat in their seats. He pushed his blonde, black tip dyed hair out of his light blue eyes. she put the envelope on the table as she read the note in her head, her lips moving but not saying anything as she read. She faced him when she finished as he pulled out his textbook. "My birthday is this weekend and I was wondering if you could come." Emma nodded as Dustin spoke and put down the note.
"I might be able too. I'll ask Tikki." Dustin laughed.
"Why not Plagg?" He opened his textbook to the page on the board.
"He'll say no," Emma laughed. "Who else are you inviting?"
"Seriously?" Dustin laughed as he faced her, his face baffled. "You're my only friend. No one else would show up if I invited the entire class!" Dustin scoffed as he slightly raised his voice, a few people turning their heads.
"Okay, okay Dus. Calm down." Emma giggled.
"Don't call me 'Dus'. My little sister calls me that." Dustin rolled his eyes and Emma nodded.
"Who from your family is coming?" She asked, opening her textbook as their teacher walked in, shuffling a few papers.
"My parentals, my older brother and younger sister and then my black cat." Dustin shrugged his shoulders as the bell rang through the school and students shuffled into the classroom.
Emma smiled at Tikki as she cleaned the dishes from last nights dinner and this mornings breakfast. "Yes Emma?" Tikki turned off the facet and turned to her, drying her hands with the towel the whipping it onto her shoulder.
"Dustins birthday is the weekend. Can I go to his house to celebrate?" Emma sat on the counter and took a bit of an apple from the fruit bowl.
"You got an invitation?" Emma pulled it out of her hoodie pocket and handed it to her. Tikki opened it then placed it on the counter after skimming and scanning it. She rubbed her eyes with her thumb and forefinger then pinched the bridge of her nose, then looked up at Emma. "You do realize this is a sleepover, right?" Emma nodded. "Are his parents okay with this?"
"I would imagine." Emma muffled through the apple chunks in her mouth then swallowed them, then took another bit until it was just a core.
"Talk to Plagg about this." She handed her the invitation. Emma jumped off the counter and walked into Plaggs study, knocking on the door before walking in. He looked at her, smiling. She put the invitation on his desk then sat in the chair by the window.
He read it over, his eyes scanning each word then gritting his teeth who's birthday it was for, and what would happen. He slammed it onto his desk and glared at Emma. "Dustin Drew?" Emma nodded. "A sleepover?" She nodded again. "You do realize that you could end up pregnant, right?"
"We're just friends Plagg! Besides we're probably going to sleep in different rooms!" She abruptly sat up and glared at Plagg. "God I don't even think of him as that!"
'Good.' "Emma, you do know that if I let you go, I'm trusting you not to get pregnant or get in trouble." He leaned back in his big leather chair.
"Yes," her hearty fluttered. "So you're saying I can go?"
Plagg sighed. "Yes. They live down the street so I know where you'll be and I know them well enough to have his parents on speed dial," Dustin may or may not have broke into his house once or twice, nine times. "Call me if he tries anything, got it?"
"Yes! Thank you!" Emma grabbed the invitation then ran to her room as fast as she could, calling Dustin as she started to write down possible gift ideas for him. "Dustin! Guess what!" She yelled as she put the phone on speaker.
