"Y'all need to learn to shut the hell up, damn."

Doth my ears deceiveth me? My eyes pop as I walk up to the teacher. She frowns as a boy gets on top of a chair and his meathead friends cheer him on.

"MR. DUFFRY YOU BETTER GET YO' ASS BACK ON THAT CHAIR THIS SECOND!" she bellows.

The guy shrugs sheepishly and shoots her a goofy grin, getting off the chair while doing so. The teacher shakes her head at him. "Lord give me strength..." then turns to me, as though sensing my presence, "Wachu want?"

"Um, Ms. Shanice? I'm Clementine, I'm new here..." I mumble nervously.

She nods in comprehension, "Hi baby. Take a seat next to Adrien in the back," she tells me gently as she points towards an auburn-haired boy.

"Ms. Shanice, I think Clementine here would benefit from sitting with someone she's comfortable with," Dan imposes.

Ms. Shanice raises her eyebrow at him and sighs, "Yes. That's exactly why I'm seating her faaar away from you, Dan. Go to your seat," she narrows her eyes at him and I swallow a snort at his distaste.

Dan turns to me, "Fret not, love. We shall be reunited soon," he gives me an exaggerated curtsey before taking off to his seat.

"Go on, sweetie," Ms. Shanice gives me a sweet dimpled smile, her bright eyes making me feel at ease. I already know she's going to be my favorite teacher.

I make my way towards the back of the class and hesitantly sit beside the dude. Should I say hi?

"Hi, are you Adrien?"

He snaps his attention away from his friend and faces me, raising his eyebrows in recognition.

"The one and only. You're the new girl. Eric's friend, right?"

A sharp pain shoots through my heart. I clear my throat. "That's me," I tell him with a smile.

He nods as though I've given him something to think about and studies me for a moment, in turn making me nervous as hell. "What are you looking at?"

I take a moment to check him out too, he's pretty attractive. Why is everyone in this school so damn good-looking?

He tilts his head to the side, "Anyone ever tell you you look like Aurora Charmant?"

My heart sinks into my stomach, oh fuck. Does he know? IT'S ONLY THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL, DAMMIT.

I compose myself and give him a nonchalant smirk. "Yeah. I've gotten that one before," I tell him with a shrug. "Where are you from?" I avert the attention to him.

"Canada. And before you ask, no I did not live in an igloo and I don't have maple syrup during every meal of the day," he tells me.

I laugh. "I wasn't going to make that stereotype, but good to know. Shame, though. I've always wanted to live in an igloo," I shrug, which earns me a wide grin from this boy.

"OKAY, EVERYONE! SETTLE DOWN!" Ms. Shanice yells out, I immediately shut up and turn my attention to her.

"Oh, I am just so happy to have y'all back," Ms. Shanice doesn't even try to hide her sarcasm.

"We gon go ahead with the introductions. You know what to do," oh dear God no.

Please no.
