"Clementine?"

"GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME DEREK!"

I'm blinded by a hazy vision and tears, I can't think or see or hear properly. Holy shit. Is it Derek? He's going to fucking kill me! I knew it was too good to be true! He found me!

"Who the fuck is Derek? Babe, it's me, open your fucking eyes!"

"W-what?" I blink and wipe my face, my vision clears.

Not Derek. Just Adrien. My heart collapses in relief. He looks shook, "What happened? Who's Derek?"

"No one! I just—you need to stop smoking! Do you know how bad that shit is for you, huh?"

Adrien's eyebrows knit together. "Shit, Clem. All you had to do was say so," he pulls out his packet of cigarettes and throws them over his head.

I calm myself down. I look like a crazy bitch, "Thank you..."

He pulls me into a hug, and we hear the countdown begin. Is it already midnight?

"TEN, NINE, EIGHT..."

We pull apart and look back to see everyone counting together. I turn my head back to Adrien, "Seven..."

He smiles, "Six."

"Five, four, three, two, one..."

"HAPPY NEW YEAR!" my words are muffled by a kiss. I pull back after a moment and laugh, "New year, same shit?" I say. He nods in agreement, and we're startled back by an angry voice bursting into the other end of the roof.

"YOU'RE SORRY?"

Adrien and I turn to watch, and my heart sinks when I see that it's Ashton and Kate. Fuck... Guess I won't have to worry about telling him, now.

"You're sorry that you've been sleeping with Dustin for weeks?" he hisses.

Kate winces, "I'm sorry, Ash! What else am I supposed to tell you?"

He flinches back and clenches his jaw, "Don't call me that."

"I really am sorry! I know we've been together for a while but it's not like either of our feelings is real. We just use each other for sex! Why are you so upset about this?" she barks.

Ashton frowns, "Are you fucking kidding me? If you wanted to fuck around with someone else, you should've broken up with me beforehand! That's fucking disrespectful, Kate!"

"I do care about you... Just, not as much as I used to. I'm bored. So are you. Stop denying it, we both know it. It was really fun in the beginning, but all it's been lately is fights and sex! Which is fun sometimes, but I'm over it. We haven't been right for a while. It's like I wake up in the morning and I'm like why are we even together? We don't make sense anymore—"

Ashton rolls his eyes, "Fine, Kate. We're done, just stop talking."

"Hey," Kate pulls his arm back, "Come on... I've seen you hanging out with that girl, Clementine. You like her. You laugh at her jokes, you don't laugh at mine. You light up whenever you see her, everyone sees it. Same thing for her. You guys make sense, Ash—"

"Don't fucking call me that," he roars before stalking off.

Shit. Oh my God. Not only did Adrien hear all of that, but Ashton's royally pissed off. As he should be! What the fuck is she even on about?

"I have to go—"

"No."

Adrien grabs my wrist, evidently not being okay with me going to see him. I frown, "He's my friend, Adrien. I have to make sure he's okay."

Adrien clicks his tongue in irritation, "Oh, yeah. I know how friendly you are with him."

I hate what he's insinuating. Not necessarily because it sounds shit, but because it's true. I'm guilty of being a shitty fucking girlfriend, and I hate confrontation. "What's that supposed to mean?" I hiss.

He sighs and shakes his head, "This is between them. It's New Years! You should be spending it with me. Your boyfriend."

We stare at each other in silence, his expression is serious. I know I have a decision to make, it's either him... Or Ashton. I bite my lip and take in a shaky breath, deciding to follow my gut.

"I'm sorry, Adrien... I have to go."
