Skyler's POV
I woke up and stretched. For a bit I just lay there in my little sanctuary of darkness. I smiled, then rose and decided to take a warm shower. Afterwards, I put on my usual outfit, but added a sparkling, blue gem encrusted bracelet. It was a birthday gift from my dad who had sent it over as my birthday is in a few days.
I walked out the house. Today I was going to do Ilima's trial. With my new Z-ring on my arm, and my island challenge amulet locked onto my bag, I entered the kitchen, eating a sandwich before leaving. I ran out, mom calling good luck behind me.
I let Rotom Dex out of my bag. Professor Kukui had given it to me the day I chose my starter. I met up with Hau in Hau'oli. "Hey!" i said. "Hau you doing?" he asked. I laughed. "I'll see you later, I'm heading to Verdant Cavern." Rotom buzzed. "Zrrt! Here it is!" he said, pulling up the map. "Thanks, Rotom." I nodded to Hau, who waved goodbye, and began heading to Route 2. "I should catch some Pokemon while I'm here," I murmured to myself.
I ran through the patch of grass until a Pokemon leaped out at me. "Ooh, Alolan Meowth!" I squealed. "Blaze, go!" I threw his pokeball out and my Litten emerged. "Use Ember!" I called. It obeyed, hitting the Meowth directly. The Meowth used Scratch, but Blaze withstood it. "Scratch it back!" I commanded. He did as I asked. I smiled. Time to catch it!
I watched as the pokeball shook.

"Yes!" I said. I had caught it in a Heal Ball, so it was feeling fine now. "Come on out!" I said while throwing out the ball. It popped out, looked at me, and gave a short meow. It turned to look at me sideways, and flipped it's whiskers like someone flipping their hair. I took my hood off and smiled, copying it. It meowed happily, and we walked down the trail to the cavern.
