I woke up for school and got ready. I stopped every few minutes to move my legs. I was so happy that I finally could feel them! I wheeled out of my room and into the kitchen for breakfast. I saw Ian and Leo eating together.

"Hey," I say rolling up to the table.

"Good morning. I hear you can move your legs?" Ian asked. I nodded and moved my legs. "That's amazing!" Ian said. I ate breakfast and Leo drove me to school. He brought me to Homeroom and I sat alone in the back for awhile before the bell rang. Seth came in and smiled at me.

"Hey Vie, how was your weekend?" I shrugged.

"It was okay."

"Where were you on Friday?"

"I wasn't feeling well."

"Where's Jasper, I didn't see him."

"He's in California, with his mother."

"Oh," he Says his brow furrowing.

"It's complicated." I mumble. He nods and the rest of the class fills the classroom. The teacher begins teaching in her dry voice. When the bell rings everyone jumps up and leaves the room. Leo comes in, smiling at me. He wheels me out of the classroom followed by Seth.

"Soon you won't need this anymore." I smile and nod.

"Soon can't come fast enough."

"I know." The rest of the day went by quickly and soon we were driving home. After we dropped off Seth we started to drive home.

"Do you want to go see your mother?"

"Yeah, can you drive me?" He nods and changes directions.

"School ends in a few weeks, then we graduate."

"I know, it seems so surreal."

"Any idea what our going to do after? Like college or anything like that?"

"I don't know," I say honestly. I don't know if I ever will get to do anything.

"I want to be a vet."

"Really?"

"Yeah, I always have."

"I have always wanted to be a doctor." I say quietly.

"Really?" I nod and he smiles. "I can see it." We spend the rest of the ride in silence.

"Leo, don't tell my mother."

"Why not?"

"She can't take anymore disappointment." He nods, but doesn't say anything. He pulls into the parking lot and wheels me to my mother's room.

"I'll stay out here."

"Hi mom." I say as I wheel myself into the room.

"Hi Vie."

"How are you feeling?"

"Better," she says smiling.

"I'm sorry mom."

"I'm sorry too Vie, I shouldn't have said those things."

"It's okay."

"No it's not." We talked for another hour before I saw she started to fall asleep.

"Go to sleep mom, I'll see you tomorrow." She smiles before she closes her eyes and goes to sleep. I wheel myself out and see Leo sitting in a chair across the hall.

"Ready?" He asks.

"Yeah." When we get home I go into my room and close the door. I practice lifting my leg. I pull myself out of my wheelchair with my arms and attempt to stand on my legs. My knees buckle and I fall. I grab my bed for support. I try to stand again. I manage to stay upright for a few seconds before my legs give out. I fall onto my bed smiling. I was able to stand for a few seconds. The door opens and Lizzy walks in. She gasps and sits next to me on the bed.

"I came in here to help you into bed, but I see you got in by yourself." I nod and she smiles. "Goodnight Vie."

"Goodnight Lizzy." I say smiling.
