Soon the workers would break through the mud brick wall. The archers were trying to keep those on the wall at bay but there had been some casualties. One of the younger men had been hit with broken bricks thrown from the walls. He was dying.
Four men with heavy shields were protecting the two diggers. There was now a small hole and the defenders were shoving spears at them through it.
Chelnuk moved quickly towards the wall and pushed his men out of the way. With his incredible strength he forced a bigger hole through the wall and crashed into the defenders. Kendra, seeing this, brought up the rear and began the attack through the wall. Fighting back to back they cleared the area near the wall of defenders, long enough for the rest of the men to pour through.
Leaping onto a man’s shoulders Chelnuk cleaved his head with his broadsword. Once the cadaver had fallen he smote two others charging forward, one killed by the pommel of his sword, the other devastated by a broken jaw.
