Kendra was strong and intelligent. His father visited him often but, not being human, could not give him the sage advice needed for his boiling emotions.

His ultimate father figure was his dead grandfather. The good dead could pass through the membrane into the Bosom. This Denda did to speak to his Nephilite grandson. He himself had raged while he was in the world. He taught his grandson tricks to try to control his anger and in some measure it worked. Kendra was restless though he wanted to leave the Bosom, it's endless peace frustrated him. He himself also collected things as one day his son would. The house his father had built him was large enough to keep all of his collections in; unusual stones, pieces of bark and snail shells. His father also brought him books written by friends upon the earth, in this way the young Kendra learned the different languages of man, this and his conversations with his learned grandfather.
