Over the next hour the others gradually appeared. Even Mendro was practicing when Disgast turned up. “So do you want to join our band of merry giant killers?” he inquired as he rubbed his head and his beard.

“I was just seeing what my father’s bow could do.” He knocked another arrow, took aim and hit a chalked mark on side of the barn.

Cocking an eyebrow up Disgast commented with a, “Well done.” He then looked at Chelnuk. “So this is the new plan eh, killing the giants before they get to us?”

“I do not know how long my father will be to prepare his trap. If we practice our archery skills at least we can kill and disable from a distance.”

“What if the giants are using bows?” Disgast smiled wryly not expecting an answer.

“Then we have to shoot them from higher ground.”

Shaking his head Disgast leaned against the wall, “I have heard of a group of giant archers, they can hit a cherry at 300 paces.”

Looking sternly into the distance Kendra’s son mused, “I had not considered that possibility. I wonder how far I could shoot?” Walking over to Loja he asked for Nimen’s bow and the arrows.
