Chelnuk charged over the distance between the giant’s camp and his own. Still he could see his father disappearing then appearing in front of a giant to slay him in some way.
The leader of the giants had noticed this and called his surviving men to surround him. There were now twenty five giants left guarding their leader.
Kendra appeared close to one of the stakes and cut a villager free from her bonds, "You are not welcome in these lands,” he called to the giant leader as he shooed the woman away.
By this time Chelnuk got to his father’s side and brandished his own sword. Nimen was not far behind on Shebu, stringing an arrow.
The closest after that was Enoch who was about a hundred feet behind.
Arrogantly the giant leader challenged Kendra. “Son of Thalen, fight me, Man to man. If you win then my men shall leave. But none of your angel tricks, no disappearing and appearing.”
Kendra knew the father of the leader. He remembered his name, Cathlon, “Can Cathlon’s son keep his word or is he a liar like all of the Fallen’s offspring?”
“Upon the life of my son my men will leave if you defeat me.”
