“Because I will be with the men most of the time. We will be in unfriendly territory and I need to be there to protect them,” he felt uneasy as he spoke, guessing her next question.
“And what about Chelnuk? What about his safety?” she looked very concerned and bit her lip slightly.
“We will sleep in holy places and have the prayers of a priest of the Most high.”
She shook her head, “It worries me. I do not want to see either you or Chelnuk as a spirit. You should have spoken to me of this sooner.” She turned her back on him.
“Do not worry, I have Puleyn and Danen to protect me, and Chelnuk has Silva.”
She was most upset and began to cry. Making his way over to her he cuddled and whispered, “Let me do this Salinas.”
Again she looked up into his face and tried a brave smile, “You know where to come if you are injured.”
“Yes, here.”
“Or to Camarmen‘s healing house.”
Whence he returned to the palace, and after he had got his belongings together, he found Chelnuk and Nimen who were waiting for him in the east garden.
“Are you both ready?” he asked them.
