Crown Prince Joshua

• Crown Prince Joshua is practically the perfect prince

• kind, loyal and hardworking, with a fiercely defended moral code that endears him to basically everyone he meets

• also handsome

• universally admired by the young women of the kingdom

• basically runs the kingdom on his own — his parents are not the best at courtly affairs and it was only thanks to fourteen-year-old Joshua that the country is still a monarchy

• but Joshua can't legally take the crown yet

• since (a) his parents are still alive and (b) he's not married yet

• so he just quietly pulls the strings from behind the scenes with his little hand-picked team

• two bodyguards, Jun and Mingyu

• foreign and domestic affairs ministers, Minghao and Wonwoo

• public relations manager Seungkwan

• his closest noble friend, Duke Jeonghan

• and a small posse of devoted servants, Soonyoung, Seungcheol, Jihoon and Seokmin

• dresses formally at all times, doesn't realise it

• "what this is how I dress all the time"

• usually can be found in a billowing white shirt under a formal tunic, black pants and boots

• hangs out in the library or the gardens in his free time

• plays guitar and sings really well and can sometimes be found just fooling around with his guitar in a remote corner of the palace grounds

• he is always present at council meetings, ready to control the situation should it go in an unfavourable direction

• he sometimes shocks people with his political savvy

• always gets the teeniest bit smug at that

• literally had only a few moments of rebellion though

• which resulted in six ear piercings that kinda make people go wild

• including you

• you're a gardener for the palace

• and you often find Prince Joshua in the little area you're assigned to take care of, with his guitar or a book

• sometimes there are others with him, of course, but it's a distressingly common occurrence for you to find Prince Joshua asleep on a stone bench with an arm slung over his face to block the sunlight

• you've taken to just doing your work around him and trying not to wake him up

• one day, while pruning an overzealously blooming rose bush, you get a kind of wicked idea

• he's not wearing his crown so you carefully take the clipped-off roses and weave them into a crown, putting that on his head

• he doesn't wake up and you steal away, giggling slightly

• "what's got you so happy?" one of the other gardeners, Hansol, asks suspiciously, but you just smile

• Prince Joshua doesn't notice the flower crown until Jeonghan points it out to him, giggling

• he smiles softly at it and hangs it over the mirror in his bedchamber to dry

• these roses somehow retain their colour through the drying process and it becomes not an uncommon occurrence for Joshua to wear his flower crown when he's in what Jeonghan calls a "tragic poet" mood
