Crown Prince Jihoon

• first off

• Jihoon is the eldest of three brothers and the current Crown Prince and heir

• not for his eldest status but because he's proven himself most worthy of the throne when their father has passed

• and their country is a cutthroat one

• each prince has a bodyguard who absolutely must stay with them at all times

• they often end up becoming their princes' closest friends

• Jihoon's guard is named Seungcheol

• but Jihoon kinda ignored his bodyguard at first because "he doesn't need one"

• and Seungcheol was just like "pls don't let me lose my job I just wanna do my job your highness pls"

• and so Jihoon put up with his bodyguard for a few years but they grew close over time

• the other bodyguards praise the heavens that the younger princes are less stubborn and quite frankly less arrogant

• Jihoon spends most of his time either in the library or the palace basement

• the basement, where he completely ignores Seungcheol for hours at a time as he trains

• he has frequent sparring sessions with the King's Thief, Jeonghan

• who taught the crown prince to fight with a dagger rather than a sword, and how to pin a fly to a tree with an arrow without killing it

• Seungcheol gets a little snarky sometimes to be honest

• "your highness, I am supposed to be the one looking after you, not Jeonghan."

• Jihoon: "I'm trying to practice, will you be quiet?"

• anyway

• Jihoon first sees you at a boring court function

• an event his father holds every few months to get all the nobles good and drunk so he can have his agents make sure no one is doing any scheming

• you're scowling in the corner watching your parents get drunk and spill all their secrets

• Jihoon, curious, meanders over to you

• "enjoying yourself, milady?" he asks, cringing at the small talk

• you catch that and smirk, leaning against the wall

• "about as much as you're enjoying this meaningless chatter," you reply

• Jihoon lets out a small chuckle

• he wasn't expecting you to be this sarcastic and to be honest he likes you already

• he finds himself sticking around you the whole night, shooting glares at Seungcheol (who is waggling his eyebrows suggestively), and making sarcastic banter with you

• and you manage to forget the fact that Jihoon is a prince and just enjoy yourself

• at the end of the night he kisses your hand shyly before you leave and makes you promise to see him again

• and you go your separate ways, thinking that you can be friends after that

• but then three days later Jihoon enters the throne room and almost passes out from shock

• you and your parents are in front of his father's throne, your wrists and ankles bound by heavy chains

• your mouth is free but your parents are blindfolded and gagged
