{Aurora's POV}

We ran as fast as our legs would take us. Leaving the Malevolent Pack was bound to be hard, but we didn't know men would come after us.

"Amara, pick up your feet." My mother said as she ran effortlessly, her blonde hair whipping every which direction from the wind.

"Im trying." I said pushing myself to run harder.

"They're gaining on us." My father said glancing behind him. I knew it too. The snarls were getting louder.

A shot broke out and I heard my mom yelp crashing to the ground.

"No!" I screamed falling to my knees beside her.

They were using guns now?

She held her bleeding thigh as I weeped.

"You gotta get up, momma." I said and she shook her head.

"I can't." She cried out.

"Sweetie, we got to get you up." My father said glancing behind us. They would be here any minute.

"I can't." She said again.

My father went to pick her up and when he tried to pull her she cried in pain.

"Please, just go!" She said with watery eyes and my eyes widened.

"No, momma!" I said as if she was crazy.

"Allen, if you love me at all, you will take my baby away from here and keep her safe." She said looking at him.

"Anna..." He started but she shook her head.

"I'll be fine! Go, now! I'll only be dead weight and slow you down. They're about to be here. If they shot me, they were close and now they're closer. GO!" My father held tears in his eyes but leaned over picking me up.

"NO!" I screamed, kicked, and hit him but he didn't let go.

"Stop, Amara, go!" Mother yelled.

I went slack completely defeated as I watched her lay there helpless. She wasn't going to be okay. She lied.

My father took off running as fast as he could.

"We're going to be okay." he mumbled, "She's going to be okay." He said trying to reassure himself.

When were were yards away I heard a gunshot and another one of her screams causing my father to slow.

"No..." I sobbed out in his arms.

She can't be dead.

"We must go." Father said in a croaky voice.

How is he okay?!

I jolted up looking around frantically. My breathing was harsh and I was sweating tremendously. I brought a shaky hand to my forehead glancing at the time.

It was just six past seven and Jackson was already up speaking I heard the shower running.

I haven't had that dream in years.

But it gets worse each time it happens.

The shower cut off and minutes later Jackson walked out with a towel wrapped around his waist, toothbrush in mouth.

"Oh, good morning, babe. I didn't know you'd be up this early." He mumbled out and disappeared into the bathroom and came back out with no toothbrush.

"Couldn't sleep?" He asked walked to me and I shook my head.

"I..." I looked up at his concerned stare and sighed.

If I was to get closer with him, I had to let him in.

"I had a nightmare. It was when my mother was killed. The scene was replayed again." I mumbled.

"Im so sorry, Aurora. I know that has to be rough." I nodded and he walked over placing a kiss on my forehead.

"Do you want to talk about it?" He asked and I shook my head no.

"It'll be best if I just forget about it." I reassured and he nodded.

"Well, thank you for telling me. If you want to talk, you know ill always be here to listen." He explained.

"I know." I shot him a thankful smile.

"Let me get changed and we can go downstairs and grab some breakfast.

I watched him retreat to the closet and I couldn't help but stare at his back muscles. He was like a god himself, but with a story. Scars traced his back and it took me back to the day he told me how he got them.

I couldn't help but realize how we were similar, but even with a rough past, Jackson held his head high and didn't let anything get to him. I admired that about him and I wish I could do the same.

I act like I'm all tough and that nothing fazes me, but in reality I'm just a girl slowly losing her mind.

{Unknown's POV}

I walked around the kitchen grabbing the newspaper and placed it on the kitchen table. Walking back to the stove, I pulled the pan off the burner and put the eggs on a plate with some toast.

I sat down with my meal to eat and started skimming over the newspaper.

Everything seemed to be the same. The people of the packs were moving here and there, the new alphas were doing well, another luna just had a child. It just seemed that the news was just about pointless stuff anymore.

Alphas Ryker just had his annual Christmas ball and it was the headliner of the news today.

'Christmas ball crashed by rogues.' I read and squinted my eyes suddenly interested.

The alphas and lunas were attacked?

'After the crowning of Luna Madeline of the power pack, rogues were spotted overfilling the border and taking out Ryker's patrol. They fought through patrol and eventually invaded the pack heading towards Ryker's house where the ball was being held. Luckily, the people helping celebrate the important event tonight were dismissed quickly and safely. No one was hurt and it has been said that the alphas and lunas took care of the matter quickly and efficiently. Each luna and alpha are safe and it was another win for the wolves last night, not so much for the rogues. But, we can't help but wonder, what was their mission?' I read and looked at a picture of Madeline being accepted into the pack.

Though, it was what caught my eye in the background of the picture. A girl with blonde hair stood smiling and clapping alongside Alpha Jackson. His mate?

Look more closely at the picture the shock hit me harder. I couldn't believe it. I knew I always had a feeling she made it... but I couldn't never bring myself to believe it. I looked everywhere for her and found nothing.

Amara is alive.

I have to get her. I won't let her go again.

I quickly grabbed my phone and dialed a number.

"Hello?" The voice spoke.

"Get my horse ready, i'll be riding out today." I said.

"Of course."

Im coming, Amara.
