Beastly Kingdom
Lost Disney Park
CHAPTER 100!!!
Whoo! How time flys.
Yay! And I get to finally talk about this park and for some reason never gotten to until today.
Background: Beastly Kingdom was a section that was to be built in Disney's Animal Kingdom. The section was never built and the land that was to be used for this area was turned into the temporary Camp Minnie-Mickey and then became what is now Pandora: The World of Avatar.
The Animal Kingdom park focuses on three types of animals: today's existing animals, extinct animals, and animals that don't exist. The latter has not been featured in the park, but plans for a section of their own were made during the creation of the park. The area was to feature such animals as dragons, unicorns, and sea monsters. The section never came to fruition mostly due to budget cuts. It was soon replaced by the temporary Camp Minnie-Mickey, a section mostly filled with character meet-and-greet areas.
And before I get into detail, we must talk about this dude: Joe Rohde.
Joe Rohde is a Disney Imagineer best known for serving as the leader of the creative team behind Disney's Animal Kingdom from initial conception to the present. He is one of the Vice Presidents of Creative in Walt Disney Imagineering. An avid world traveler, Rohde is notable for his large collection of earrings, that he has accumulated through his travels.
