Nor do we have them in our backyards. In suburbia, we do not find one in every house. It is actually rare that we find kangaroos near houses.
However, when one does come by for a visit, it makes the news, like that famous footage of the kanga hopping along a bridge, or the "Ma, the neighbours are fighting again" video that went around the world as proof that they're everywhere. But the fact is, they aren't. That's why when one does, it makes the news.
Unless you actually live in the bush, in country towns like Yunta or Broken Hill, or any other place that is in the middle of the country, you won't find one standing on your front doorstep.
