••••• "No one warns little girls how boys with such pretty eyes who smell like smoke, who taste like rain, who talk like silver, are reasons behind tear soaked pillows, half finished poems and so many sad dreams." •••••

"Come sit on my lap, baby" my boyfriend, James slurred as he wrapped his arms around me, pulling me down onto the couch with him.
His biceps flexed as he held me in place, the biting smell of tequila tickling my neck when he left open-mouthed kisses on my skin.
"James, stop" I protested with a sigh and attempted to push him off. He was completely wasted. "I'm trying to take pictures of everyone for Sammy" I reminded him.
I hated James when he was drunk. I hated every second of that sly grin on his lips, his hungry eyes wandering over my body, hands wandering to my butt.
I started to push harder and that's when his arms around me went limb and I could finally wiggle free. I fixed my tight dress and the strap of the polaroid camera that was hung around my neck.
My eyes looked down at him and locked on his stupid smirk. "You're no fun" he whined, pushing his chestnut curls off his sweaty forehead.
"And you're wasted" I fired back to which he raised the red plastic cup in his hand up and winked at me.
"You're right about that, baby" he mumbled, playing with his silver lip ring as he pulled out a pack of cigarettes before bringing one up to his lips and searching his black jeans for a lighter.
I knew I still had one somewhere in my purse but I kept my mouth shut. "Do I really have to remind you that this is Sammy's birthday party?" I groaned, throwing my head back when he didn't pay any attention to me.
Taking a deep breath I tried again. "It's her night tonight and I came here to have fun and celebrate with my best friends so please at least try to behave. Just for one night, James" I muttered. He wasn't listening, still searching for a lighter. Asshole.
"James?" I snapped my fingers in front of his face. He sighed before grabbing my wrist to stop me. I knew he hated when I did that but it was the only way right now to get him to listen.
