Whether he wanted to or not, over the past few days, Dom had become our personal driver, droppings us off at school in the mornings and being back in the late afternoon when it was time to pick us up again without ever complaining about it. Not even an annoyed sigh could be heard from his mouth, nothing.
And even when we knocked on his door at 11pm on that chilly Saturday night of Yoongi's party, begging him to please, please drive us there, he paused his favourite show for us, dropped the fluffy blanket he had been wrapped up in like a burrito to the floor and grabbed his car keys without asking a single question.
Sammy was still so heated about the picture of a very drunk Cat that Jungkook had sent me and the fact that she was going behind our backs that she didn't speak a single word throughout the entire ride. Which, if you know Sammy, is never a good sign.
She was focused on angrily typing away on her phone in the backseat, mumbling quiet curses every now and then. I had to admit though that it was kinda hard to take her serious with her new pink hair, she looked like an angry pixie.
I, myself was feeling conflicted about the whole Cat matter. I didn't feel as angry or betrayed as Sammy because I still had trouble even believing that Cat had really gone to the party without us when we had all promised not to go. Yes, I saw the picture and yes, she had been acting weird at school but still.. I didn't think she was realizing any of it or I assumed that she'd at least have a good explanation.
We never went to parties on our own, if one of us couldn't go, none of us went. (There were some exceptions but still) We had each other's back, always making sure we were okay and had a safe way of getting home. No matter how drunk I was, I still always managed to have an eye out for my two best friends and protect them from unwanted flirting or creepy dudes refusing to leave them alone.
I knew Cat was with Jimin but I started worrying for her nevertheless. Something about all this didn't feel right. This wasn't the Cat we knew.
Like I had expected, the music could be heard throughout Yoongi's entire neighborhood, the bass was loud enough for us to hear when we were still three blocks away. Dom parked the car a few houses down because there was no other parking spot left and before Sammy and I left, I made sure to thank him and tell him how much we appreciated him and his time.
"Just be safe, okay?" he asked of me and I nodded my head.
"Promise. We'll get Cat out of there" I said.
"Do you want me to wait in the car or are you guys gonna take longer?"
I glanced over at the crowded party, groups of people spilling out of the house and into the garden, cars parked everywhere.
"Um, actually, I think we'll need a bit of time. You should drive back, I really can't expect you to wait on us" I told him. "We'll find a way to get back home"
