{Jugheads POV}

The sun was bright and warm, giving us hope that today would go smoothly. Everyone was on edge about the events soon to come up. Though no one else but me was racing, everyone found some way to freak out.

The past two days, Betty and Joaquin have been working on the 71' Chavelle that I would be racing. It's a gorgeous car, and from what Betty has said, runs like a champ. With two hours left before the race, I stand next to Betty handing her all the necessary tools she asks for.

"Can you hand me the crescent wrench, please?" She asked. With a small nod I headed her the tool and she got back to work on the car. She was wearing a new style of overalls for the body shop, with a white t shirt and converse on. Her blonde hair was tied up in an unusual bun, grease smudges on her forehead and cheeks. "And that should be good!"

"You're amazing" I smile, wrapping my arm around her waist.

"But wait, I need to show you something" she smiled, pulling me toward the drivers side door. As she stepped in, I couldn't help but smile at the way she just fit perfectly with this car. "Okay, see this red button?" She asked, pointing to it. "This is the button you press when you want a shot of Noss to go through the engine"

"Betty, wouldn't that be considered me cheating...?" I asked. She smirked.

"What the Ghoulies don't know won't hurt them. You know they have some trick up their sleeve, Jug" she said stepping out of the car. "This is ours"

"You're an enigma, Cooper" I said through a smile. Hers widened as she wrapped her arms around my neck. My hands found there way to her hips as I gently pushed her against the car door. She chuckles before placing her lips on mine. "You know..." I say breaking apart and placing small kisses on her cheek. "We still have two hours before the race" I say as my lips trace down to her neck. She takes a moment to answer, soaking in the feeling of my lips on her neck.

"Just enough time for us to get ready" she smiles, placing a kiss on my lips before pulling me towards the door.

The sun was brighter, warmer. Causing everyone to dress lighter. I wore what I usually do, my jeans, and black shirt and my jacket.

Betty was in a pair of high waisted jeans, with a white strap shirt. Her hair was back in it's blonde ponytail and a red bandana was wrapped around her head.

"Jones!" A familiar voice called. I turned to see Sweetpea walking alongside Veronica. "They're here" he stated. Just then, the roar of engines filled our ears, the Ghoulies all pulling up in their souped up cars. I'd be lying if I said my heart rate didn't quicken a little.

"Jug, you okay?" That heavenly voice asked. Betty was at my side, noticing my anxiousness. "Hey, look at me" she said, pulling my face towards hers. "You've got this"

   "I know" I smiled.

"And remember, don't ride the clutch and don't let slip between the gear shifts, okay?" She assured. I couldn't help but let out a chuckle before placing a kiss on her cheek. As I turn on my heels, I'm met with the eyes of Penney, and the Ghoulies leader. Malachi.

   The man Betty had stabbed.

"Jughead Jones! What a pleasure it is to see your face again!" Malachi exclaimed. "And look who it is" he stated, coming closer than I'd like him to be. "The Serpent skank"

"Watch it" I said, pushing my hand against his chest forcing him to stop. His eyes lingered on Betty before snapping to mine.

"What? Would you rather me call her Betty?" He smirked. My blood boiled at her name coming on of his mouth. "When I win" he started, whispering so only I could hear. "I'm gonna make her my bitch"

"Now, now boys. We have a race to get started!" Penney said, causing him to back up. We both made our way to our cars, his an old rat rod, painted red with flames. Typical.

As we enter red our cars, we kept an eye out. Cheryl was the one to fly the flag this time.

"Ready boys?!" She yelled, her cherry red lips and cherry red outfit nearly blinding. My hands gripped the wheel as I waited for Cheryl to drop her scarf, signaling go. My heart was pounding, I had to win. I can't lose this race.

Our engines were Erving as she smile widened. I was ready to go.

"GO!"

And we're went.
