Finding Us Again

I Don't Understand It.

Ian's Pov-

"So what did you need to talk to me about baby?" Nina asked. She moved her chair so that she was sitting in front of me. Paul and Phoebe were right next to us.

"Ok. Because we said no secrets. And even we didn't I'd still tell you this. Because it's something you need to know. So um.” I stuttered trying to get it out.
I looked over at Paul and he nodded his head. Letting me know that I got this. And reminding me that he's right there.
I took a deep breath and grabbed Nina's hand.

"While you guys were gone with mom earlier Kat called me. She called to say she wouldn't be here tomorrow." I said. I was about to continue when Nina started talking.

"Aww. Well that sucks. Is she gonna make it here before everybody leaves? So we at least have one day with everybody together?" She asked.

She looked genuinely sad that she wouldn't be able to be here with us. Now it's even harder.

"Babe she's not coming. She's staying in LA. We got into an argument while we were on the phone. She said some things. And I told her I didn't want her here." I watched the confused and nervous look on Nina's face.

"What do you mean, you got into an argument? About what? And what did she say Ian?" Nina asked.
I looked over at Paul and Phoebe was staring at him. She got up and moved her chair closer to Nina and I.

"Well she called and said she wasn't gonna be here tomorrow. So I asked if she was gonna be her Saturday and she said 'No Ian. I'm not coming at all.'
I could tell by her voice that she was mad about something. So I asked her what was wrong. And she went off." I said.

"What do you mean she went off?" Nina asked.

"About what?" Phoebe asked.

"She started going off on me about Nikki. I guess Nikki called her crying telling her that fake ass story. And I guess Kat believed the bullshit." I said looking at the two of them.
Paul had moved his chair next to me and we looked at each other for a second.

"Well that figures. It's not like she could call anybody else." Phoebe said. She put her hand on Nina's back and winked at her. Nina gave her a small smile.

"What did she say Ian? I wanna know exactly what she said. Don't sugar coat it either." Nina said. I could tell by her voice that she was getting mad.

"I guess Nikki told her that we've been having an affair. That we've been seeing each other for months. And that I just up and left her for you." I told Nina. I was hating every second of this conversation.

"Are you fuckin kidding me?" Nina said raising her voice.

"She said I just packed up and left. And that I was ignoring her calls and texts. And Kat started being rude."

"What do you mean she started being rude? What did she say?" Nina asked me.

"She um... She was just being rude. And it was pissed me off." I said.
I was trying to get out of telling her exactly what was said. I didn't want to tell her. She was already getting mad. And I knew once I told her she'd be hurt and angry. And I didn't want that.
