"Joaquín! Don't forget to brush your teeth!" I screamed through the hallway.
"I'm not you! I never forget that!" He yelled back.
I could hear his mouth full so I assumed it was with toothpaste.
I knew he was going to forget.
" Let's go get breakfast to start out day off." I told him while swinging my jacket around and placing my arms in.
"Sounds like a plan. IHOP or Dennys?" Joaquín asked.
"Up to you."
"I choose IHOP! " He yelled in joy.
"GRRRRGGGGRRR"
"What was that?" I questioned.
"My stomach, can we go now?" Joaquín groaned with a little smile peaking through.
"Lets go." I laughed signaling Joaquín to get in front of me so I could lock the door.
When we went outside our lift was already waiting for us.
"Good morning." The lift driving said putting the car into reverse.
"Good morning man in a suit!" Joaquín greeted him.
The car filled with laughter. He really was a funny kid.
"Where to Ms?" The man asked.
"IHOP on 8th and Porter." I replied watching him type the location into his GPS.

"Boy you better finish them pancakes." I ordered Joaquín.
"But I don't want to get full because I won't be able to jump around at the play house." He pleaded making a good point may I add.
"Alright, I'll get a to go box so you can eat it later. We don't waste food around here." I told him.

"Give me your shoes so you can climb into the tubes."
"Okay!" Joaquín shouted joyfully over the loud music.
I smiled as I watched him climb the steps and dive into the tubes.
He was getting so big. His birthday is coming up so he'll be turning 8.
He's literally my everything. Just seeing him happy makes me happy.
Sometimes I can honestly say I felt like his mother but he'll always be my little brother.
I took a seat at the booth and pulled out my cell phone.
No messages.
Hmm should I just text him first?
"Hey, what you been up to?" I thought.
No, too cliché.
"Me and Joaquín are having a good time so far." I also thought.
Nah, why would he care about that?
"Hey" I thought for a second before pressing send
Wow, why didn't I just start off with that?
"Sis! Look!" I heard Joaquín's little voice shout from the tube.
I sent him a smile as he continued to play.

My flash from my phone came on notifying me that I had a message.
Messages [ Gabriel - Hey, how's your day going so far with your little brother? ] - received at 1:43 PM
And I thought he didn't care.
[ Adriana - It's going great so far. We ate at IHOP a little over an hour ago. Now he's just playing around in Chuck E Cheese. How's your day going? ] - sent at 1:45 PM
I sat my phone down after pressing send and looked around to see Joaquín running up to me.
"Can I have some tokens to play the racing game with my new friend!?" He said standing on his tippy toes.
"Sure." I giggled handing him 6 tokens.
"Yay! Thanks! Come on Cory." He skipped aways from me.
He was always good with people. Clearly.
**Bloop Bloop** A message came through.
[ Gabriel - That's good, I'm glad. I had a long morning. People were really stressing me out at work today so I'm going to relax in the house and prepare for our date tomorrow. Hope you didn't forget :) ] - received at 1:48 PM
I felt my cheeks heat up reading the last two lines. I immediately began texting back.
[ Adriana - How could I forget that ;) Can't wait to talk to you in person again. You really seem like a nice guy. ] - sent at 1:49 PM
I pressed send and made my phone screen face down.
I covered my face and kept lifting the phone to peek and see if he's texted back yet.
**Bloop bloop**
I quickly grabbed my phone with a huge grin.
[ Gabriel - Haha, see you tomorrow beautiful! ] - received at 1:50PM
I practically melted in my chair after reading that message.
Ugh, these feelings he gave me were never before felt.
—————————————— 3 HOURS LATER ——————————————
"Grab my hand." I said to Joaquín as we crossed the street entering the yogurt shop.
"Hello sweetie, what kind of yogurt would you like today?" The worker asked Joaquín.
"Hmmm, I'll take my usual chocolate. Oh! Can I have gummy bears and sprinkles on top this time!?" He asked the lady.
"You sure can sweetheart, and for you miss?" The lady stopped and turned to me.
"I'll take strawberry with walnuts, sour patches, and whipped cream please." I answered.
"Coming right up."
—————————————— We walked over to a table with our cups in our hands.
"Here's a napkin." I handed one to Joaquín.
"Bssshh, who needs that?" He said diving right into his frozen yogurt.
"Don't ask for mines then." I giggled grabbing my spoon.
We sat and talked for a few minutes just enjoying the moment.
"Oh my goodness, look over there." I widened my eyes cause Joaquín to turn around.
"I don't see anyth-"
I quickly smothered whipped cream on his nose.
"Hey!" Joaquín giggled crossing his arms.
"Hahahaha! You look like a clown." I grabbed my stomach, laughing hysterically.
He rolled his eyes before asking, "Can I use your napkin."
"You should know that answer to that." I said before laughing again.
Joaquín shook his head while I laughed.
