Corey sits in the gym changing room quietly, watching guys change, people come and go, lockers being opened, towels being dropped and yet feels completely alone.
"I'll tell you, hanging with Michael is exhausting," Sam says next to him as he ties his shoelace, "But it's worth it for the sex!"
"You're having sex with Michael?!" Corey asks, his eyes bulging. He knows he was miles away just then but what did he just miss?!
"Of course not!" Scoffs Sam, "We have symbiosis."
"Oh my god are you alright?" Corey puts his hand in his heart liking shocked, he hasn't the first clue what symbiosis is but it really doesn't sound good.
"It's not a disease!" Sam sounds amused. "It's a perfect relationship. Like the yellow tick bird and the rhinocerous."
San sighs, obviously an explanation is in order. "The yellow tick bird feeds on parasites on the rhino's skin and, in turn, the rhino is warned of impending danger when the tick bird flies away. Similarly, I supply Michael with an object of scorn and ridicule, namely myself, and he supplies me with unwanted ticks...tricks," Sam corrects himself.
Corey's aghast, "You're doing this for cast offs?"
"In bed you can't tell, they're as good as new!"
"Sam, have you ever asked yourself if going drinking with Michael and having indiscriminate sex with countless strangers is really the life you want?"
"I have," Sam nods seriously. "And the answer is, you bet your ass it is."
Corey tries again, "Have you ever wondered if this is the life God wants for you? Have you ever wondered is there a better life?"
"Yeah, I could have a ten inch dick and look like him," Sam nods his head towards a black haired Adonis in the corner of the change room.
"Well, who wouldn't want that?" Corey keeps his tone deliberately light even though his heart sinks, Sam obviously has no idea what he's going on about.

Luke opens the door of the shop, its bell tinkling above his head as he steps through the threshold. This is the second shop he's tried and bingo! He smiles to himself as he spots the exact person he's been looking for.
"Hi," He says, taking his backpack off and lying it on the counter between them. He's met with a scowl which he ignores.
"What are you doing here?"
Luke keeps his tone light and his expression neutral, "Looking for you."
"How'd you find me?"
"First I asked your mum, then I called Stephen..."
"Is there anyone you didn't ask?" Calum demands.
Luke ignores him, "...Then I asked Michael."
"What'd you do that for?!" Calum exclaims, then carries on regardless, "Look, just butt out! I told you before this is none of your business!"
"Yeah..."Luke ignores him again, looking around the comic book shop, "...Michael said that whenever you feel sad or upset this is where you come, that just being around all these comics brings the light into your eyes."
Luke can't help but let a little snigger out despite his best efforts, luckily Calum doesn't seem to notice.
"He said that?" Calum asks.
"I guess he knows you pretty well," Luke rearranges his face to get it under control again.
"Well, he doesn't know me any more." The grumpy look that was on Calum's face when Luke arrived now returns.
