"Happy birthday to you," Steve smiled, holding out a small gift bag. Your jaw dropped in surprise as you took it from him.
"Steve! You didn't have to get me anything!" You gasped, placing the bag beside as you practically pounced onto him. You felt him chuckle against your hold as you hugged him as hard as you could.
"Wait until you open it." He said as you eventually pulled away. You smiled widely, resting the bag back into your lap. When you looked inside, there was a small box. You furrowed your eyebrows, looking from the box, to him confusedly. Cautiously, you took it from the bag.
You opened the box, and a gasp left your lips. Inside, was a small, silver necklace. It was beautiful. Tears stung your eyes as you put a hand to your mouth. No one had ever gotten you anything like it before. It was undoubtedly expensive, also having a timely look on it. Even if Steve wasn't alive in the 40s, he still was definitely an old soul.
"It- it- it's beautiful." You whispered, "so so beautiful." You looked at it in awe for a few more seconds before continuing you speak. "Thank you so much. I love it."
Steve smiled at you, watching as you quickly fell in love with the necklace.
"Would you like me to put it on for you?" He asked. You nodded eagerly, taking it out of the box and handing it over. You turned around, pulling your hair to the side. Steve delicately undid the necklace, putting it around your neck.
You put your hand softly onto it, looking down as he did the clasp up around the back of your neck. Once done, he put his hands onto your shoulder. "Go have a look." He said softly, lingering his hands on your shoulders for a moment longer. You went to the mirror, and felt the first tear fall down your face. You smiled widely through the tears, seeing as a blurry Steve comes up behind you. He put a hand on your shoulder again. You wiped your tears, turning around to hug Steve for what seemed like the tenth time. The necklace was truely beautiful, and you couldn't thank him enough.
