"Hey, how 'ya going?" You smiled at the man, grabbing and scanning the items as he placed them down onto the counter. You bagged them without asking, deciding to privilege him with having the 15 cent bag for free

"Good- we're good- thank you." He spoke quickly, so quick in fact that you only just caught onto what he was saying.

"We?" You asked, looking behind him naively, "have you got someone where with you?"

"Yep." He laughed, watching as you placed the last of the tatertots in the bag, "now sorry to cut that conversation short but have you got any more of those tatertots?"

You hissed in thought. "Ahhh, well if there isn't any more there, then I don't think so- sorry!" You peered into the bag you just packed, realising how many bags of tatertots he already had. "Looks like you should be alright for a while though! There's what- four big bags here?"

The man laughed awkwardly, shrugging, "my roommate loves them. That's all for today, by the way."

"Well you must be a hell of a good roommate, paying almost $25 for them." You winked, seeing him blush the slightest bit at what you said, "you're right to insert your card whenever."

The man inserted his card, smiling sheepishly once again. "By god I am. Thank you!" He grabbed the bag once the machine accepted his card, shoving his wallet into his pocket. He headed immediately for the door, slipping out almost silently... besides the fact that he ran into the door a little too hard at first.

"See ya later!" You called, the door clicking shut behind him. For a moment, it was silent in the small supermarket. Until you heard he man speak again from outside.

"I know she's pretty, V! I wasn't just going to tell her though, was I?!" He sighed, exasperated, "look, I bought the tatertots, let's go have some. Yes and I will come back tomorrow to see if she's there, Jesus Christ."

You blushed then, trying to hide your smile as you looked down at your shoes. He seemed nice. Rushed for time, but nice. Hopefully he would keep to his word of coming back tomorrow...
