How can you say you love me?

How can you say you love me,

When you don't know me completely?

How can you hold my hand

When I'm harbouring a secret that revolts you,

That you have been raised to hate

Without even been offered an explanation

Of what it is, or why it's bad?

How can you hate something you don't know?

How can you love someone you don't know?

And how do you do so knowingly?

Would everything change if I told you?

Or will your love withstand your pride and prejudices?

If logic, human decency and statistics

Cannot and will not change your mind?

Will love?

Will I?

Can you change your entire worldview

For one person?

And will you do so willingly?

How can you say you love me

When your beliefs prevent me from loving?

Will you acknowledge that

I am still the same person you loved

Before my secret came out?

Will you support me,

Let me still live under your roof,

Will you let me love freely?

And will you do so lovingly?
